There seems to be an inconsistency. The forum says Dodge Ram Classifieds Forum. The sub-forum where you posted that doesn't specify Ram. So I guess we're both right...

Yeah, it's definitely 2wd. That's why I said if it was 4wd it would have already sold.

4wd, even if a conversion, would dramatically jump the price up. Or just ship it east where the square bodies have died a rusty death.

This outfit in Indiana specializes in bringing southwest trucks to rust country, and some of them are eye watering prices in my "I remember when these sold for $1500 and a case of beer" mind. Here's an $18k comparison with another (not a Dodge or Ram) classic but 4wd:

I bought this little 77 regular cab shortbox as a kid in high school,it was 6 months old and was drove by a salesman as a demostrator truck up till then.It had 2,000 miles on it,and i paid $5500 Canuck for it,it listed at $6500 brand new if it hadn't been a demo truck.
That was back in the days when salesmen still got vehicles to drive as demo vehicles.
These pics are from the spring of 80 .

Yes… ALL the Chevy/GM trucks had rust-out… EVEN those down South and out West!
My ‘78 Ford was galvanized on assy-line BEFORE painting and that’s why Fords did better in that regard. I’ve had Both , owned since New…. a ‘78 GMC and a ‘78 Ford and the GMC was even dealer-treated with the GM-recommended internal rustproofing treatment….but that truck was Swiss-Cheese by 1988. I GAVE it to the junk-yard in 1999 to haul it off. In 1994 I sold the Ford …with ZERO body rust and still saw it driving around locally as late as 2010.

Nah...that is too high-tech! I want something REALLY reliable and easy to service.

I think those fancy spokes are just ripe for a breakdown, though, when they inevitably break. Real trucks don't need wheels.



(somebody will now come and complain it doesn't have a bench seat and no real truck should have enough space for two children at a time)

I miss hood ornaments. The 3D Ram's head was the coolest one ever made, but all of them added that little extra splash of cool to the vehicle.
