Hey everyone,

I've been babying my stock gy 20's for 42k with no issues until we got snow last week and I was better off in a fwd econobox lol. My questions are below with what I usually use the truck for.

I daily drive this truck with some occasional 4000lb towing and it snows where I'm at for 5 months out of the year. I want minimal road noise and minimal wear but still have an all season type tire that will last more than 35-40k miles.
I had toyo open country's on my 01 2500 diesel and I loved them for what I needed the truck to do, but I can actually hear myself think in my 14 sport so I don't have much feedback when it comes to road noise with those tires.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I know there are many tire threads but I really didn't see any that would answer my questions specifically(searched 10 threads sorry got lazy with my eyes).

I also plan on picking up a 20ft enclosed 7k axle trailer so that may be a factor as well.

Thank you in advance

I'm glad I'm not a sound ***** like some people when it comes to full size trucks and noise.

But the BFG A/Ts are very quiet. I didn't even believe I had wheels on the road when I had those.

Stick with the AT tire type for the least amount of road noise. I had a set of Toyos on my MegaCab and got excellent mileage and mixed condition traction. After 60K miles they were finally (over) done.

I recently put on a set of BFG KO2's and was surprised at how quiet they are. Their only perceived advantage over the Toyo AT's is better off-road and mud traction. Their wet traction is excellent. I have no idea how they will do on mileage.

If you go with BFG's, just make sure you know what you are buying. They make both "P" and "LT" rated sizes and many get duped on the P rated tires being cheaper when they needed the higher load rating of the LT series that run more expensive.

You won't be disappointed with BFG's.. i have the BFG KO 2's, 285/65/20 and LOVE them! Great traction, no road noise. My best friend has the Nitto Terra Grapplers, 275/65/20 and he loves those. Either are nice tires.

Just make sure to keep proper air pressure and ROTATE YOUR TIRES!!! Those are key to make your tires last as long as possible.

It sounds like you don't need an aggressive A/T tire, just a long lasting tire that rides smoothly and works well in winter conditions.

I would definitely get snowflake rated A/T unless you wanted to get a second set of wheels & dedicated snow tires. I have about 16k miles on my E load rated GoodYear Wrangler All Terrain with Kevlar tires. They are a 60,000 mile snowflake rated (relatively mild) A/T tire that is quiet, smooth, and very good in wet and winter conditions...with the exception of extremely deep snow where an aggressive A/T or M/T would be better.
