Guys,
Looking around the 3rd Strike site I found these cutout pipes Race Ready 3 Stainles Slip Fit Y-Pipe Race Ready 3 Stainles Slip Fit Y-Pipe, Race Ready YSS300B Y Pipe [Race Ready YSS300B Y Pipe] - $55.95 : 3RD STRIKE PERFORMANCE, Your site for Late Model Performance!

Or at least I thought I did. Turns out they are pipes for electric cutouts. Back in the day we all had everything from pipe nipples with caps to gas caps on filler tubes welded into the exhaust. When I saw these I got to thinking a little about using them between the headers a cats. Put a cap on them but on that occassional trip to the strip just unbolt the cap.

Also does anyone have experience using these clamps?
Race Ready 3 Stainless Steel Band Clamp Step Down Style Race Ready 3 Stainless Steel Band Clamp Step Down Style, Race Ready BCSS300 Clamp [Race Ready BCSS300 Clamp] - $15.95 : 3RD STRIKE PERFORMANCE, Your site for Late Model Performance!

I want to beable to remove the headers for engine work down the road.

Thanks,

I had those style clamps on my old exhaust and they worked just fine. If you end up going with the pacesetter Y it slips right over the collector then all you need to do is cut about an inch down the side and use the provided clamp to hold it together. Thats how mine is setup and it works fine.

For the Cutout, get a raceland and call it a day, they are cheap and they work great

Ryan,
When using these clamp, does the Y pipe still slip over the collector and then the clamp holds everything together or do the pipes go into either end and butt together?

The way it was with my old setup, one pipe slid inside the other and then the clamp went over it to tighten it all down which is like the ones you had posted up will need to do I believe. The way mine is now uses the clamps and piping that came with the pacesetter Y pipe and I have had no issues with it leaking at all.

Here's a few pics for reference:

You can see the cut we made in the pipe that slides over the collector for ease of removal

Ryan,
I thought maybe the band clamps might make easier to pull apart, but I see yours looks good and shouldn't present a problem. Thanks,

I mean if you are not going with the pacesetter Y there are other options and the band style clamps would work, just not sure how well. But if you do go with the pacesetter Y why spend more cash then you need to? the kit comes with all the clamps and piping needed and I used every bit of it.... just modified it a little to fit my needs.

Haha the sway bar is impossible to ignore. But got you on the clamps. I'm going to use the Pacesetter Y pipe. I'm just waiting for Duane to gather a few more parts before completing my order.
