Only took 2.5 weeks to get the trans done.... she definitely feels different but noticed a few weird things so she may be going back.... had a hard down shift into 1st or 2nd when coming to a stop. Kinda like if something slid in the bed and hitting the sidewall of the bed when hitting the brakes hard. Also since its raining its slicker than dino snot and ended up spinning tires but then yhe exhaust made some strange raspy sound.... never heard it before. So i try it again and happens at around 3500rpm. Going to have to investigate it more.... wondering if its trans related or cam related uploadfromtaptalk1460250122456.jpg

No bueno... and it still doesn't seem right??

Did you hear that the guy who bought my truck smoked the trans within 2 months? The truck only had 11,000 miles on it. Chrysler replaced it under warranty despite all the mods and tune...

Yeah it feels strong but a little off. Might just be me or I'm feeling a rattle from the broken muffler.... I didn't run it much or hard since it was raining . Just wanted to get it home to where I can put the pile of parts I have accumulated on...

I did read about that. I guess they had a hard time figuring out what was wrong with mine since it was sporadic. It would road test fine... but maybe I caught it early. But destroying one in 2 months is crazy. I don't even know how you could drive it that hard to do that, cause I drive mine pretty hard and it was still going and fast as hell even with a hurt trans.

I think we agree that when something seems off our paranoia meter is on extra sensitive... hopefully it's all good. Maybe it will brake in a little bit... Did you have any kind of warranty coverage??

He acted like he didn't do anything, but I am sure he did some brutal WOT down shifts, and ran it 140+mph... He called me on the side of the road driving home from Vegas.

I snuck in just a week before my warranty timed out. I forgot to ask them if they replaced the TC or not.

I'm thinking he was thrashing yours pretty hard, probably brake stands and such too. It's sad though that these 5/6 speeds are so fragile ...
Plans are in the works for a srt-10 manual trans swap though. Then I can hammer it a little harder without worrying so much.

I would assume with the new transmission, there is going to be a "re-learn" of the adaptive learning for the transmission. I suspect you will have a few more of the hard 1-2 downshifts but they should become less frequent and eventually go away as you get a few thousands miles on it.

If they did not disconnect the battery when they did the transmission replacement, you may want to do that for a few minutes to remove your old learned profile in the PCM and start with a fresh re-learn cycle.

As Hootbro said, it may just need time to relearn your driving. Plus you probably will have some paranoia from the past experience you had with transmission issues. But keep in mind just because you're paranoid doesn't mean the transmission isn't out to get you. :)

That is a very good point, I didn't think of that and suspect that is the case such all of my stereo settings are still there, 3 weeks of being disconnected should have cleared that memory depending on how it's saved. Not sure how these new fancy systems are programed but if I remember right I had to reset everything when it got a new cam and lifters .

I'm glad to hear you got it covered under warranty...

Definitely disconnect the battery and let it sit for at least 2 hours. I assumed this had been done already...

I didn't even think about it and of course forgot to as I went up to the GF's folks for her b day. I'll unhook it tonight before I go to bed, and hope I remember I did it in the morn when I turn the key and freak out

Was this causing any odd sounds? My truck is making a whirring/vibrating/shallow grind noise when in 5th going up a grade. The dealership seems stumped.

I never heard anything, but I also have a pretty loud exhaust. I could feel that something was off. It also wasn't consistent but would feel similar to a wheel bearing going bad kinda of grind....

When I got my trans rebuilt it didn't feel right for almost a week, I was going to carry it back to the shop, but I guess the break-in needed to happen and now it works great.

Good luck with the new transmission.
I think you're feeling that "clunk" that the 8 speed has. Hopefully, it will be just a relearn of the transmission. Truck looks great by the way! :favorites13:
