New to site.Just bought 2024 Ram 1500 Tradesman. It has the 5 inch radio. How much trouble to swap to 8.4 screen

I'd recommend you go aftermarket and not ever have to worry about UConnect issues.
Check out Crutchfield. They are a great shop and have everything you'll need for a seamless installation.

You can find people selling the radios and bezels on ebay or even LKQ, all you need to do is if youre looking on ebay make sure they have the anti theft code and on LKQ you will need to use an online service or take it to a dealer to get the anti theft code. Infotainment charges way to much for what it is. I got a premium instrument cluster for my 4th gen off of LKQ for 200$ and programmed it my self. Infotainment wants like 800$ for that same thing.
