We left today for vacation in Destin. So far my truck has averaged 16.5-18 MPG between tanks at speeds of 70-85. Not too shabby for a 4x4 loaded with suitcases and stuff. One of my friends from work had an extang tonneau cover (leather snap in) that he let me borrow for the trip, and it has saved our luggage from getting soaked several times today. Not to mention helping with fuel mileage too. Anywho, hope all of you who are not on vacation this week have fun at work, my ass will be in the sand! :)

Awesome! Be Safe I went to Mesa, AZ last year from Seattle, WA it was an great trip, that is what I was averaging in mpg also. I have the bakflip cover on mines so I just throw all of ours luggage in the back and kept the back seat for cooler and small lunch stuff.

The tonneau is defiantly worth it's weight in gold when you need them, but I think after awhile it would become a pain having to unsnap it every time you need to get something from the front of the bed. We finally made it after being on the road for about 12 hours.

Destin is nice/ Looks just like Naples/Fort Myers.

But as far as the MPG's go. I average 19 to the highest ever 21. And thats doing 70/80 with luggage, three adults, one kid, and a baby. Run some Lucas Fuel treatment through that ***** and fill up with some quality 89/93, and watch your MPG's go up on the way back.

My truck is 4x4 so it's going to get a few less than you will get.

I thought I read on here somewhere that the tire size wont effect speedometer accuracy?

It definitely will effect the speedometer. You might have read that changing gears won't effect the speedo

I can't wait to take a family trip to Branson next weekend, just so i can see what i can get for MPG. This 13.4 Avg to and from work really puts a damper on the wallet, but then agaiin i didn't buy a truck to save gas.

Yep that must have been it about the gears. I remembered thinking that it was strange.
