Thinking about getting the tranny line pressure booster when i change out my tranny fluid in a few months. Only 50$ so i think it’d be worth it. Are there anyone on here that’ve done it with the 65RFE, and has it made the sloppy shifting the 65RFE is known for better?

Just watched a video on it, and it looks extremely promising. Going to buy it.

Most likely wrong on this description because i’m still learning about it, but it boosts transmission line pressure for more crisp shifts. Probably does more, but that’s what i’m seeing. The RFE is known for being slush so maybe that’ll make it shift more like the 8 Speed.

Keep us posted. I'd love to see something like that to actually work.

There's an old discussion about it (2011...right) on "Z" forum. People talk about minor improvement. But for $50 supposedly worth it.

Will do, turns out you don’t need to take the tranny pan off. It’s just a connector with like a computer thing connected to it that hooks up to the pressure sensor on the tranny, and tells the PCM the fluid pressure is low (when it’s not) so the computer boosts up pressure. Can’t wait.

Just watched this video, it does seem to shift better than other 545RFEs i’ve seen doing 0-90 tests. They seem firmer to me.

Can adjust the line pressure with tune also.........most tuners bump up to 150-160 psi for stock valve body.

I had the line pressure bumped up on my last truck by manipulating the fuel tables. Really made a difference and even knocked a full second off my 0-60 but be aware most likely it will make your transmission slam on a sharp downshift.

Really that’s what i want. My tranny has been a slushbox since it was new, when it shifts they aren’t as firm as they are with pretty much every other tranny and gradually reduce RPM instead of directly going into gear if you know what i’m saying. Once i found out about raising the line pressure, and how that’ll make the shifts better, i couldn’t have been happier.

I had this transmission in a 2002 Jeep and it was fairly sloppy, so I installed a shift kit that included new parts in the valve body plus a switch to increase line pressure electronically. The shift kit cleaned up shifting significantly, they were clean and short compared to what it did before. Big improvement! The improvement seemed to be mostly from the valve body parts of the shift kit, the line pressure adjustment didn't really feel like it helped it kinda just made the upshifts snap a little. Ended up leaving that switched off.

When I replaced that vehicle with my Ram with the same transmission, it already feels better, with quicker shifts than the '02 had. Haven't really felt any compulsion to change it.

Line pressure booster is coming in on Tuesday.

I’ve been on this forum for a while; and i remember reading something Burla posted about always having his truck in tow/haul and it performing a **** ton better. I can now stand by this as well. I never thought it’d make that much of a difference to be at 2K RPM at 50 MPH instead of 1K, and the shifts were SO MUCH BETTER and no where near as sloppy as they usually are.
