I had a paint mark on the center console rest that I couldn't get with warm water and a rag. So I went after it with Goof Off and it came right out along with the shine that was on the vinyl from the factory. It now looks like a half dollar sized raw piece of vinyl. I tried rubbing some Armour All on it but it's still discolored and has a slightly different texture. Any suggestions to bring it back to factory other than throwing a cover over it and forgetting it exists.....

Sounds like a mod looking for a home to me.

I think he's suggesting it's a good opportunity to upgrade the center console lid, maybe with something custom from an upholsterer or a higher trim level console lid or something like that. Or on the cheaper end just a cover.

I think some sort of cover would work better. Not sure if Goof Off the whole lid will look good. Thanks for the suggestions. I thought there might have been a miracle cure polish or cleaner or something that would have brought it back to life.

Since you are open to a cover now, here's what I bought in June.

Have you tried asking an auto upholsterer if they have an idea? I had one recover the console lid in my '01. A recover in your case would be like using a Mk 82 to kill an ant mound, but they might have an idea for revitalizing the vinyl.

Just thought of this: neutral shoe polish?

Thanks for the ideas. It's been about 3 weeks since my stupid cleaning mistake and it seems like the spot is less noticeable after I rubbed a bunch of Armor All on it and left it alone. I may leave it a while longer but I'm open to car console cover like the one RodeoRam mentioned.
