What exactly is the purpose of the air cleaner mod? Is the factory air box that is attached to the fender not very suffecient?

Just seems to me that it would draw cooler air on the factory set up than it would using an open element air cleaner.

Most people do it because the airflow isn't the greatest using the stock box. So to increase airflow they go to a round filter setup because they can't afford a cold air intake.

the stock sucks, anything other than that is a major help with fuel mileage and performance

has anybody here compared the performance gains, even if by a butt dyno...LOL...on the differences between the open element round air cleaner and an actual CAI?

Ok I'm in here. Got a 01 5.2L with 244k on her and an owner that just absolutely abuses the heck out of her and she still keeps on going
