My 2022 Ram 2500 tracks the duration a trailer is connected to the truck. How is this identified? Based on the trailer having brakes and being connected? Based on load on the light circuit?

Rams 19’ long so dat math not work. When plugged in and truck senses trailer, it will start recording miles traveled till disconnected and cleared. As far as how long dunno. I got a 2019 1500 and I not know if it does time Neva saw, never even looked or noticed.that too, but if you have the side vehicle sensors that tell youn when a vehicle is on your side, then your rear tail lights "measure" the length of the trailer when it's hooked up. You have to make a 90 degree turn so it can sense how long the trailer is (up to 30')
my landscape trailer is 16' and when it measures it it shows 30' overall. why it does that i have no idea. maybe the overall length of truck and trailer. that way when you pass someone, it'll tell you when it's safe to get back into the lane.
hope i explained that right...lol
true with the math....it comes to 35", but, like i said it maxes out at 30'...unless i subtract the tongue length of 4'.Rams 19’ long so dat math not work. Well, I have a lowly 1st built 5th Gen from 2018, not got all the fancy doo dads. Just eyeballs and a tape measure, LOL. I do have a 14' X 5' trailer that I pull sometimes for Hay. SO that puts me at 6-7K lbs when loaded. I'll have to read my manual ref trailer screen, just not remember time noted. By my manual:true with the math....it comes to 35", but, like i said it maxes out at 30'...unless i subtract the tongue length of 4'.
making a joke....but, i thought i did read in the manual it maxes out at 30"...i'll have to check again
