whats the deal???

hello everyone.

my names taylor and im a new member here. although im not a newb when it comes to trucks, mods, and motorsports, i am not entirely familiar with rams and the aftermarket for them. i just bought a brand new 2013 express. my question is this; what are my options as far as tuning goes? from my research, it seems that no aftermarket company has released any sort of tuning for the '13. why is that? is ram gonna release an all new truck for 2014 and the aftermarket is waiting for that so they can make new products and not waste their time with the '13??? ive also seen a few members here running a diablo tuner with a custom tune from "whitelightning" and/or "hemifever." do those tunes pertain to the '13 or just the '11 and '12?

Welcome! I don't personally have a tuner, mainly because in waiting for the Diablo Sport to release theirs for the '13. Currently, Bully Dog has one available, but I believe that is it at the moment. There are a few preferred vendors on here that can perhaps shed more light on what else may be available.

You hit the nail on the head; neither of the preferred tuners (Diablosport/Bullydog) have released a tuner for 13's yet. Dodge doesn't release the trucks all unlocked and ready to go like GM does; they have to figure out (buy) the encryption from Mopar, and it takes time.
White Lightning, Hemifever and a few others provide custom tunes you can run using a Diablosport (DS) tuner; either the Intune DCX or Trinity. The BD tuner can only use the provided (canned) tunes it comes with although they are said to be better than the tune provided with the DS units.

Does anyone have an idea when Diablo will release the '13 tune? If I were to go with the whitelightning or hemifever route, what's involved? Obviously the purchase of a Diablo tuner but what next? Send it to to either tuner and they will upload what tune they feel suited for my truck? How reliable is that? My Chevys all had custom tunes using HPtuners and I was able to sit with my guy and be involved in tuning process so I was able to gain trust in what he was doing.

once diablosport has the tune available for 2013's, and hemifever/whitelightning are able to write tunes, you will save your original tune file, and also log a few runs and send those files to the custom tuner of your choice (hemifever/whitelightning). then based off of what they see, they write a tune for your vehicle. you load the custom tune to your vehicle and test it out to see if you like it. At that point, if there is any tweaking that you would like done, then you contact your custom tuner and they will adjust the tune to your needs.
