Yesterday while roaming some desert trails one of the BadYears took a spine in the sidewall, so today I’ll be tire shopping. I’ll take the opportunity to upsize while I’m at it. Here’s hoping availability is not going to be a problem, lots of other items I’ve ordered lately seem to be taking longer than normal.

Pics will post after installation. Might be a few days as I’m nowhere near a major city or distributor. Intentionally.

Found some BFG KO in 35-12.5 in stock not too far away. It’ll be a couple of days before I can drive over and get them put on.

Presently living in the RV, so I’m buying far from home. Which seems to happen about half the time LOL.

This is rapidly turning into a negative experience.

Issue 1: wheel weights hitting caliper. Returned to have fixed.

Issue 2: I specified 50 psi and got 65. Rode like a dump truck. Fixed that myself.

Issue 3: major imbalance on a steer tire. Back to the store round 3.

I guess it's tight with the larger calipers and 17" wheels on the 19's, but they look great. Hopefully they can figure out how to do their job this time.

All’s well that ends well, I guess, although I’ll never get back a half day of wasted time, but perhaps this will help someone else avoid what happened to me. The clearance for the caliper is very tight on these trucks. Takes some special thin form factor wheel weight. Shop didn’t have them, and tried to make do with the regular stick on weights they had.

Fail.

Third time around they ordered the right weights and now they’re smooth as glass.

It’s been a few years since I ran a set of these and I’ve already been reminded how much I like the KO for a smooth, quiet ride that still gets the job done on the trail.

On the trail today the ride is much improved with the 35s”vs 33”.

One area where the BFG is inferior to the BadYear Duratrac is in throwing stones. I’ve run Duratracs on 2 trucks now and gravel throwing is minimal. The KO are picking up a lot more gravel.
