I was having some issues with 5th/6th gear at 98k miles so I took it to a local shop I trust, and he said that it looked like it would need a rebuild. If I'm going to rebuild this, I'd like to upgrade any applicable parts to make it better or more reliable. I will admit I don't know a ton about these transmissions, first RAM truck I've owned. Any recommendations for what you'd change over stock if having to rebuild one? And yes, I'm talking to local rebuilders about schedules and recommendations too, but figured I'd see what some other opinions are. If I have to replace this with a new transmission instead, any recommendations there too?
