Well, my dumb self did it...
Got all the way to the Radio plug, didn't see the instructions for the 3 pins as "View from the rear of the plug".
Took out the Grey-Dark Blue-Light blue wires from the radio plug and replaced them with the 2 Greys & a Bare....
At first, the instrument cluster would turn on, radio would not, none of the interior lights work....
Found this forum, realized what a dummy I am, switched the wires around as instructed.
Ok so here's the issue, tried to find somewhere else that maybe someone else had done the same thing and had a solution for this.
Instrument panel works, Radio works, truck starts and runs, drove it around... Issues:
1) When I turn the key to "Run", my instrument cluster and radio 'dim' like I have the headlights on.
2) Headlight switch doesn't seem to be doing anything at all, can't turn HLs on or off, they just seem to come on when I start the truck.
3) None of the interior lights/dome work, use to turn on when I opened the door, but even pressing the button on maps lights does nothing.
4) Vanity mirror light doesn't work
5) Garage door buttons don't work
I've already started going through fuses, haven't found anything blown.
Haven't programmed truck for the new OEM b/u camera yet...
help
UPDATE: Checked a bunch of fuses, nothing blown, used a fluke to do so, not eye-balling it.
7-14-21 Decided to start keeping notes...
ALL WORK WAS DONE WITH NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTED UNLESS NOTED
At this time, I had disconnected the battery, using a low pressure detergent mixing hose nozzle, I cleaning the engine compartment by not only spraying with an approved detergent, but rinsing thoroughly afterwards. Vehicle sat for 3 days before the battery was ever connected again
Disassembled center console and radio faceplate
Removed radio
Removed panel from under steering wheel
Removed all plugs from BCM under dash
Scotch locked purple wire into Orange wire at BCM
Replaced all plugs in BCM
Removed aftermarket trailer brake controller harness installed by previous owner
Installed OEM trailer brake controller
Connected factory plugs to trailer brake controller
Large radio connector:
Read instructions wrong, depopulated Grey - Dark Blue - Light blue wires from radio plug.
Plugged Grey/red - Grey/blue - Bare from back-up camera wires into spots where Grey-Dark Blue-Light blue wires were
Electrical terminal on Light blue wire was damaged during removal.
Re-installed center console including plugging radio in
Re-connected battery negative terminal
At this point, I noticed that the interior lights were not turning on with the DS door being open. (dark outside)
Put key in ignition and turned to “RUN”
Noticed radio did not turn on.
Turned key off and back to “RUN” again- Same results
Researched and discovered that I had connected the electrical terminals in the radio plug incorrectly.
Removed center console, removed radio
Large radio plug latch broke
Removed Back-up camera terminals, replaced Grey-Dark Blue-Light blue wires
At this point, I had to ‘rig’ the light blue wire to keep it in it’s spot, the terminal is broken, not the plug
Re-Connected radio wiring, managed to use the broken retaining clip to keep the large connector in the radio.
Put truck ‘back together’
Symptoms:
Interior lights no longer turn on when opening the doors, neither do any of the outside lights.
Hazard lights no longer work
Universal Garage Door Opener no longer works
Map lights won’t turn on when pressed
Headlight switch does nothing
When key is turned to “RUN” the instrument panel and radio ‘dim’ as though the headlights are on
This is even in the middle of the day
Now getting “Service Shifter” messages in Cluster
Check engine light blinking or ON
Getting message “Vehicle Phone requires service” message on radio
