I really like that site. That's really the only place I think you can get an honest combined mpg for vehicles.
None of which are 20-24 mpg that guys claim they're getting from a tank

I agree. I can, however, say that my '96 CTD2500 4WD 5 speed, 3.55 rears, got 27.9mpg on a round-trip from Virginia to L.I., NY, in one day. Filled up in Winchester, VA. Drove to Medford, NY and back to Winchester. Upon arrival to Winchester, I filled the tank back up with 24.5 gal, and traveled 684mi.

My 24V can get that, downhill, coasting. That's it's best chance.

My girlfriends has gotten nearly 24 MPGs from a tank but it was literally 500 miles of highway driving.
What's wierd is she had her truck services at the local cummins shop, ever since her lie-o-meter seems like it is probably spot on. Before it would read 21-24mpg average now it's 17-18 avg
It's hard to say what spot on actually is with her truck is since we have a 300 gallon tank and hand pump fuel lo

No that's filtered for just diesels. My girlfriends is about 13.5 in town/18.xx highway and she usually averages 17.1-18.2 a tank (mostly highway)

I average about about 15-16, but my cat is restricting my exhaust and its getting clogged which is making it that low. Before I took my muffler off, it was a couple mpgs higher

Fuel Milage????......Who cares, not me if I wanted that I would buy something smaller to drive and I can assure you that will not happen. So fuel mileage is what it is and when it dings we add fuel, simple process.

You have a very good point, but if I can save a little bit of fuel great, if not , oh well, not all that worried about it

Maybe you should move to Idaho and learn about hauling your supplies home... Everything I do is at least 180 miles one way. Like grocery shopping to firewood hauling... So MPG is a huge factor of getting the bacon home. Like for me to get up in the mountains and haul back the firewood its nearly 40 miles one away climbing 12-16% grades.

Something smaller... Right... :Wedgie:

Nicest thing about having a 300 gallon fuel tank

Don't have room for it in the truck... Then farm tanks won't do me any good either... Would you drive 180 miles to where fuel is 3.70 to 3.80 a gallon or would you buy local fuel at 4.30 to 4.50 a gallon?

Same like would you go to the local store pay 8-9 bucks a pound for a steak when you can drive 180 miles and get the same steak for 4-5 bucks a pound? Then you would pick up twice as much right?

So with the economy being screwed up and bigger service being farther away I have to drive farther for supplies and such.

As for having big HP truck with low MPG going to do for a daily driver? Yeah it might be fine for you guys living in town drive it 3-5 miles on the weekend and show off on the local track. Heck for me to get to the local track is at least 190 miles. But when I fire up my truck it will so no less than a 100 miles for that day... No joke!

We go through 300 galllons in usually two weeks so they'll bring a fuel trick out for us now. I couldn't imagine what the delivery fee for you would be haha
