just bought my first dodge-ram truck 1 day ago. the dealer told me they would install trailer brakes when i bought it . today i get the call from the dealer saying that my they cant but trailer brakes on my truck. it has the tow button and a hitch 7@4 bin trailer hookup. this is a 2016 rebel it has no where to even hook up trail brakes so they say. this is so crazy, the 2005 nis. titan i traded in had a hook up for bakes. if someone can help with this it would be great . i would like to keep the truck.

Find another dealer. No matter what model truck you have you can put trailer brakes on it. Doesn't matter if you have a tradesman or a Laramie Limited. They are all capable of having trailer brakes installed

Ask them why they can't.

It is possible the truck isn't pre-wired trailer brakes?

Take a look at this video (about two minutes in), it shows how to locate the trailer brake connector, if there.

There should actually be two wiring harnesses under the dash for the OEM brake controller, a four pin and six pin. For the factory brake controller, the dealer just has to add a sales code and then the brake settings show up on the dash and in the radio. The brake controller is an option for the Rebel, no reason why it can't be added.
There have been many people add them after the fact with no issues. Go complain to the dealership manager or find a different dealer.

Amen brother.

This is the first time in my life I've bought a Chrysler product. I always assumed all of the manufacture's dealer were the same when it came to service until my first Chrysler service visit. Then I though, OK, just a bad dealer. Tried another dealer and not much difference. Chrysler service and their dealer service is a massive train wreck.

There are a few good dealerships out there and I finally found one, thank goodness.
