I want to add a hitch receiver to my 1500.. I don't plan on towing a lot. Hope to get a boat in a year or so, but its not priority. Focus is on the ability to tow a flatbed and uhaul trailer if/when i need one..

I'm sure this has been asked a dozen times. But.. whats the best to get, or are they all created equal?

I purchased a Curt Class IV from etrailer.
I had zero issue with it. It's a BEEFY unit, it was total over kill.

You can get the factory style part that bolts on to the existing 'hitch' in the bumper.
It is also a Class IV (from what I saw looking at trucks on the dealer lot)
They are ~$80 if I recall.

The one from Dodge is the best looking IMO and can haul as much as your truck can handle.

Plus, they're American made.

My new 20k 5th wheel hitch was exactly, and I do mean EXACTLY $1.00 more than the Drawtite 16k which is made in Mexico. Better warranty as well.

Now how on Earth can anyone justify NOT buying American?

A hitch and go or uhaul might have them in a pinch. I say go heavy as you can and I agree buy American if you can. I am pretty sure the factory one hooks to the frame with tubes not like the one above.

I would, but my Ram was built in Mexico.

So was mine. On purpose to be frank. But it was more an anti-UAW move on my part than anything else.

Other than trying to put a knife in the UAW's collective backs, why not buy American? The argument that it's too expensive to manufacture here doesn't hold water.
