I have read all the hype about towing capacities and fell in love with a 2013 Ram 3500 4X4 diesel dually crew cab Laramie Longhorn. Its gorgeous and rides very well. My plan is to buy a 5th wheel toy hauler in the 15000 lb range.
I have looked at the dodge VIN decoder and I cant find anything that makes me confident that this will do the job. I have read that this model has been bumped up to about 30000 lb capacity. It appears I have 3.73 rear end gears and a GVWR of 10300 lb. The gross combined WT rating varies from 17000 LB to 27600LB. please help a knuckle head out.

If you go to ramtrucks.com and under Towing there is a place you can put your VIN and it will tell you what your exact truck is rated for. It won't let me link it from my phone.

Short answer, your truck is going to pull/haul any fifth wheel you can find on an RV lot.

There are sure a lot of people that feel the same as you do. Fact is there are many large RV's that far exceed the tow rating of the 3500's. Just because you can get a load moving doesn't mean you are not exceeding the limits. I see more semi-tractors pulling large RV's all the time because of the limitations on our pickups.

I've never come across a fifth wheel that a 3500 dually doesn't have the payload or towing capacity to move. If you know of a fiver that exceeds a 3500 dually's ability, let me know, I want to be awed.

Just because you see medium duties pulling fifth wheels doesn't make the fifth wheel too much for a 3500 dually.

According to this. And this is for a 4wd 2013 larmie you should have 5580 payload and towing of 23413. So you should be just fine
