hello everyone. I have a 2013 ram 1500 express with the tow package.
I have seen a few people on here talk about getting 10 to 13 mpg while towing a trailer, I'm getting around 8 to 10 and down to 5 to 6 going in to the hills. I have a 28ft travel trailer running about 6600lbs. when I bought the truck, sticker and the sales guy said it had the 3.92's. Does this seem right and is the anyway to check the diff without pulling the cover. thanks for the input.

There should be a sticker on the diff unless it has worn off. I've got 40k on my truck and can still read my sticker............or do a vin lookup

I have a 2013 6 speed with 3.92's. Don't tow, but average 14-15 in average driving, mostly in town.

If you have a 6-speed, I think you're right in the ballpark, if you have an 8 speed (I can't remember if 3.92 and 8 speed was available in '13), you are probably a bit low.

if the window sticker says 3.92, then thats what it has. you can look up your build sheet to verify if you would like. keep in mind theres a lot of factors that can affect mpg's when comparing your average to what you read online.

thanks. I'll check that out. when I put my airlift on, I didn't notice any stickers but then again I wasn't really looking for one either.

I have the 6 spd and 3.92 gears. Towing my camper (6000 lbs), I get 10-11, and that is not level ground. Empty highway, I can get 22.5, but normally get 21.

City, for me is brutal, as it is all slow speed with many stops.

Sounds like you are on the low side of normal.

I understand that, but you do know there is a lot of shady dealers out there. My last truck said it had the off-road package shocks, tires paint scheme and lights. It had the stock rims tires, shocks and no fog lights but it did have the fancy paint.

I've got about the same size camper and I'm in the same range with the 5spd and 3.92s. I don't know about 10mpg though. Maybe with a good tail wind and driving 60 or so.

'12 6spd/3.92 pulling a 32', 7K trailer we get 10-11 on the flat and down to 8 through the Rockies, always 60-65mph.

I have the 3.55s in my 2013 Sport and just towed a 7k trailer and got 14MPG. I was pretty damn happy with that. Lots of varying terrain.

Nothing to do with the dealer. Dealer doesn't do the window sticker. That doesn't mean you have it, chrysler was sued for not putting in the ordered gears after all.

If you really want to know, compare your RPM vs speed to someone else with the 3.92
