Hey group I'm getting ready to tow the wife's car and ordered some straps but I'm thinking they aren't going to work. My trailer is made out of C channel so I figured flat hook straps would work but they don't seem to look very secure. The strap can get tight enough to squeeze the tire but there isn't much contact where the hook connects to the trailer.

Can you safely tether the vehicle from underneath? Two straps upfront on the underside pulling to the rear and two under the rear pulling forward. Is this a viable option?

Is it any better if you pull the car forward 6 inches and use the wielded on bracket? If you're worried about it not being strong enough I used to haul skid steers and back hoes using those brackets all of the time. They're not going anywhere and it will keep the straps from slipping forward or back.

I guess I would use chains and binders if it were me. No slack that way and as long as the chains are good you will certainly make it there safe.

I have not found a car I couldn't strap down 2 front 2 back. I use a combination of the hooks and axle straps. that c channel is plenty strong but I wouldn't like the way that's strapped personally. If I saw it in person and fiddled with it I may change my mind. In reality if you can keep the car from bouncing and the e brake is on it shouldn't go anywhere.

Spoke to the service department at my dealer, they said it would be ok to tie on to the front control arms and rear cross member so I repurposed the straps.
