I'm fixing to get a new set of tires...a need not a want....I have 275/60 20 on there now...I'm thinking of going to something like a 275/50. ...or 55...for towing...will it make a difference as far as somewhat changing the gear ratio?

I have 3.55 gears and I tow alot only 4k lbs ...no way am I doing gears..as its really not struggling. ..but I thought maybe a little smaller tire would ease it that much more...I'm not sure it would change anything though...anyone else go down like this and notice a change?

I Saw a spedo / tiresize chart that said my spedometer would me like 10.mph off at 65.. with 275/45...but those are real short .so it must Change some ....right?

That's weird ....it's telling me if new tire diameter is smaller it goes from 3.55 to 3.40....I thought it would go the other way...I'm confused

It's saying you'll need a 3.40 to equal the same it's a little backwards. Effectly it's changing your ratio by .1 it's just giving you the diffeence. I also was putting the new size first sense your going down not up.

Basiclly a 32in tire with 3.55 ratio would be the same as a 33 with a 3.66 ratio if that makes sense.

If you go down to a 31 in tall tire it would be the same as a 33in tire with 3.77 gears

If you're not struggling with the trailer now, I'd just stick with the stock size. You'll rack miles up a little faster with the smaller tire and non speedo correct.
