I'm wondering if I should use tow haul mode all the time with my 6x12 flat nose enclosed trailer at about 3000 lbs.....I do alot of country road driving. ..few small hills here and there..should I just use it around town

I'm towing this trailer at least 75% of the time. I dunno if tow haul uses more gas....or what it does besides change shift points...seems like it's just so close to going into 6th when I'm cruising 58 60 mph

That's a pretty small trailer. I can't imagine it makes a huge difference either way. I'd probably just drive both ways and get an idea which feels better. I'd bet tow/haul will feel better since it generally makes the transmission more responsive and quicker to downshift.

Yes it does feel nicer with it on most times...just at cruising. It's revving a little higher like almost ready to shift. ..but if I shut it off I'd real low like it's ready to shift down...I .just wonder what would be best for the truck...lol

tow haul changes tranny shift points so you get all the power, prior to a shift.
Lots of starts and stops I would definitely use it, anytime the tranny keeps hunting for gears, on open road, I would use it.

Six or eight speed transmission?

My 2013 has the eight speed, I tow my tractor, about 7200 pounds, and I never use tow/haul, I played around with tow/haul on and off and didn't see any difference outside of holding shift points longer and earlier downshifts making using of engine braking. Never experienced "gear hunting" while pulling. I do not have first hand experience with a six speed transmission in a 1500.

If your transmission is "gear hunting" and with 3K pounds, I doubt it is, use tow/haul.
