Any links to see what I need to look at getting would help out as well. Thanks.

What are your stock gears? 3.55? The next up would be 3.92s but I'd say go with 4.10s instead. Or you could really have some fun with some 4.56s. Also are you 4x4 or not? Cause if you are you'll have to change both front and rear.

I want to add this. When you change the gears in the rear end you will have to have your speedo recalibrated. Speeding tickets are a pain in the tail end.

I'm under the impression that the speedo will not need recalibrated. It reads off of the tire speed sensors and is only thrown off by changes in tire size.
From what I understand anyways. :hidesbehindsofa :)

Or do the 2005's work differently than that? I should've read closer the first time. :p

Most newer vehicles and a lot of older ones have the speed sensor in the transmission. Yes you have to recalibrate the speedo when you change tires if the physical height of the new ones is more than 1 inch difference, but changing the gears also requires a speedo recalibration. Most tuners have the ability to recalibrate the speedo. I installed 3.96's in my daughters truck from the 4.10's and had to do a bit of digging but found the correct menu to do it with the Intune I have on her truck (she did not need the 4.10's because she does no towing).

The speedo does not have to calibrated for a gear swap only a change in tire height. Our trucks read off the tone ring in the axle not the transmission.

I have the 3.55's right now. I was looking around on Rock auto and came to the conclusion that 3.90's were the next up. The only thing I will be towing would be a boat during the summer months. Just a regular fishing boat. I don't have 4 wheel drive. So yeah.. I'll prolly go with the 3.90's I see on RockAuto

I have a 2wd and do very little towing. I have the 4:10 gear with short 28 inch tires and IMO it's perfect. If I ran taller tires such as 31 or 33" I would prefer 4:56. IMO don't waste your money on 3:92's. And as stated Moe's is the best source for gears and install kit. Good luck..

How much difference did anyone notice going from 3.92 to 4.10s?

As you can tell from the ratio's there isn't much difference. A lot of folks will go from 3:55 to 4:10. Most folks with 3:92's will opt for 4:56.
