I thought I would share my thoughts, after 6 months of ownership, and around 8500km (5200mi) on my 2014 2500 CC 4x4 Laramie Black Edition:

As I mentioned in my introduction post, I came from pretty much exclusively GM trucks. There were a couple of Fords thrown in over the years, as well I have been driving F250s for work the last few years, so I have had quite a bit of experience with 2 of the big 3. I had never owned a Ram in all my years of driving trucks.

Some outstanding points for me are:

- The fuel mileage continues to impress me. As you can see in my fuelly signature, I am getting around 15MPG average for the lifetime of the truck. I think this is incredible for the power of this 6.4. Granted, I do drive like a bit of a grandpa, but the terrain where I live is quite hilly. This is as good (or even better) than my 2013 Silverado with 5.3 was getting.

- The interior, to sum it up: Amazing! I liked my GM trucks, but this interior is so much better in so many ways. There are basically NO rattles/squeaks. I get really annoyed with constant noises from dash panels, weird wind noises and strange things going on behind the dash. I don't seem to have any of these with my Ram.

- The overall "feel" of this truck, the driveability, is second to none. It seems to have all the power I could ever want, doesn't "lag" off the get-go, and yet cruising around town, seems quite refined. I love every minute I get to spend in it, especially all the looks I get as this thing is a beast!

- In the looks department, this truck gets the most of any truck I have owned, including lifted ones etc. Heck even I can't stop staring at it sitting in my driveway.

Overall I am so impressed, and so happy with my decision to try out a Ram. I haven't looked back, not even once! I hope as time goes on, and kms rack up, that I continue to be so impressed!

^ I have the 3:73 gears with the 6-speed, and my commute, which is what I do most often, is about 70% 2-lane hilly rural road with the rest in-town driving. I don't really do much "city" driving at all.

I drive like grandpa and avoid idling, yet am a 2+ MPG short of your report. I sure hope mine loosens up a bit.

That explains it then. Sound's right to me since ill average about 17-18 on freeways with a 6speed and 3.55's

^ tjfdesmo - How many miles on yours? Even at 8500km I am still noticing that the mileage seems to get better and better. Like you, I really try to avoid any idling. Wintertime my mileage wasn't so good, along with the truck being so new, it's hard not to take advantage of the remote start in -30 temps! LOL

I do it more so in the summer, I have 18 month old twins- so I like to keep that thing cool... the 15 min shut off and low fuel cancellation **** me off some times, but it is what it is.

Waterboy1, being Canadian, I assume is quoting Imperial gallons of gasoline which are 20% more than American gallons,,,may account for the slightly higher mileage results,,, eh?

I've got 27k on mine. Don't do much highway or city driving. Mainly two lane hilly country roads. I average 15-16 mpg. Towing my lawn equipment, I get 13.

according to his fuelly sig, 15.8L/100km would equate to 14.89 american mpg...

I have 2500 miles on mine with a similar 20 mile one way commute and have typically (last 4 fill ups) seen a hand calculated 12.5 mpg (13.7 EVIC). I'm hoping that it keeps climbing and will be as good as yours.

And I concur with all of your pros list and would add that the ride & smoothness under acceleration is top notch.

I'm getting over 16 MPG over the first 12,000 miles.
Granted, I drive about 280 miles each way to a job once a week on the freeway which is vastly changing the overall MPG.

Still, I agree with the OP. I'm only 4 months in, but have plenty of seat time, and am vastly impressed.

I DID get 15-16 in my 07 5.7 4x4 until I lifted it 6" and put 35x12.5's under it. Now I'm happy when I get 10+ mpg :flipthebird:
