Getting ready to make the jump to REAL work truck. I'm looking at a couple of 4th gen 2500 4x4 CC with the 6.7. My question is this, how many miles on the clock should I be willing at accept? The trucks I am looking at have between 95k and 200k, and there is a corresponding difference in price. So how many miles should I be willing to trade for a lower price?

If it's a well maintained 6.7 then I would not be afraid of one with 150k on it. But I would want records if possible to ease my mind and first thing I would do is a tune up .

Depending on year, I'd keep it under ~150,000 too. If it is ~3yr or newer and has lot's of miles, they maybe highway miles. Personally I'd try to buy under ~90,000mi. That way you have some warranty left.

I found a 2014 Laramie RAM 2500 with ~87,000 for ~$35,000. The GPS maps showed the last owner traveled all over Texas. So I'm sure most of miles are highway.

I would buy a 2011.5 to 2012 in the best condition being used. Other wise new with warranty is way to go in my books.

What would recommend a 2012 over a 2010?

The manual one I'm looking at is a 2010 with 95k.

From my experience the engine will not be the issue if well maintained. Like one of the other poster's advised try to get one with service records. My real concern would be the electronics. The electronic's, windows, seats, stereo, etc will go bad and cost you money before the engine and trans.

Go newer with high miles if possible.

IMHO

Diesel vs Gas for 1500

Anyone have experience towing a stump grinder with 1500 Diesel vs Gas. Want to know if the power and gas savings of diesel is noticeable for towing something of about 2500 lbs. Thanks
