Hey guys! This is an awesome forum and I see a lot of guys giving honest advice etc. I'm looking to purchase a 2015 Ctd Mega Cab either a 2500 or 3500 when I come back home from working on a project. I have done extensive research on the Ram Heavy Duty line and I am just totally impressed with the trucks. Test drove one a few weeks ago and just fell in love. Like them way better than the Duramax and Power Stroke's I have test driven. The truck will mostly be used for work when I go out of town and across the country for work. Now I am debating on either getting the 2500 or 3500, I see that the 3500 series comes with the Aisin Transmission. I've read that the Aisin is far more superior to the Allison which in my opinion is just a beast.

My truck won't really tow/haul much within the first year and people have told me ill be wasting my money on getting a Cummins. I can care less what others opinions are lol. My main question is, if I am going to be spending the kind of money on a new truck should I get the 2500 or 3500? Like I said before, the truck will be used for work and play and will b e traveling a lot.

The truck I test drove was a 2015 2500 Mega Cab 4X4 Big Horn Ctd and after the first few minutes of driving the truck I just seriously fell in love. I have yet to test drive a 3500 yet, but will I notice a difference between the 2 without pulling a trailer?

IIRC, there is no difference between a 2500 and 3500 aside from the rear axle spring pack.

You will most certainly get a rougher unladen ride on the 3500 (leaf springs) than the 2500 (coil springs).

If you don't need the payload of the 3500 get the 2500 for a smoother ride.

The aisin is going to be a waste of money if your not towing or hauling with it. Stick with the 2500 my friend, much better ride!
