How hard is this to install on a 2013 express without one?

Not to sure. I know a lot of folks have done it. I think there is a DIY on here about doing it. Your truck might have wiring already there but may not.

Thanks. Better in someone's lightless truck than in my garage collecting dust. [emoji106]

How do I find out if the wiring is already there?

Thanks
Drivers side , there's a blank panel under the lighting knob assy .
This blank is easily removed by pushing out from behind it .
There's a connector there , I believe it's a 16 socket connector that's the one for the overhead console .
I have the schematics for my truck / a 14 Express. May well be the same as your 13 . What trim level is your 13 sir ?

It's a 2013 Express.
My bad on the location see pics below .

It's more so behind the drivers vent , the green connector.

So, if it has wires on both ends I should have the wires in the headliner?

Thanks for the pics.

You will not have wires ( to my knowledge ) if your truck did not come from the factory with an O/H console .
You would have to make or obtain your own harness.

TO MY KNOWLEDGE! ! this is how it's wired .
Lighting wires in the console are spliced into 2ea sockets on TOP of the green connector.
Socket #16 Black wire is Ground .
Socket #11 yellow / Violet is the + positive circuit .
These two are for dome lighting , which come on with a door opening or dome light as normal & dim and go out automatically .

The compass or homelink / compass module utilizes only 3ea wires ( even though there are 4ea pins )

@the module pin #1 goes into the top of the green connector socket #1

Pin #2 @ module goes to socket #8 @ green connector .

Pin #3 @ module goes to socket # 2 @ the green connector.

Pin #4 is unused .

You also require the dealer to flash in sales code CV2 .

With the above said , PLEASE verify your wiring . This is the info for my 14 Express. Can't be 100% certin your 13 Express is the same .

Hope this helps !

I just called my local dealer and he quoted me $75 to do a flash. Is this a good price or am I needing lube?

Would I need to get it flashed if I only want the map lights to work? I have an aftermarket stereo so the compass module wouldn't work anyway.

Thanks for all your help guys. This site is really awesome.

Seems a little steep. I had 3 codes flashed for $45 total at my dealer Which is still a rip off considering it takes 2 minutes to do lol
And no flash needed if you just want lights to work.

All dealers are different, most charge an hour min , for a 10 min job.

Ok. I definitely want to do this. Last question. If my truck isn't wired for the console and this console doesn't come with wiring harness, were do I buy a wiring harness for it? If I can get the wiring, I would like to buy this and get it done.

Thanks again.

Not sure on ordering the harness. I know the overhead harness you can't order by itself because the make it as part of the headliner [emoji849]. Maybe R.I.K. has a better idea on this one. You could make your own harness if you have some basic soldering/wiring knowledge.

You will have to fab your own harness or use the mopar pigtail kit (p/n 68064999AA). The mopar pigtail kit only connect the lights, not the module. You can buy the connector and pins for the module at mouser (very small connector and pins need to be crimped correctly to fit into the shell. The hard part to find is the Yazaki pins that go into the green connector behind the headlight switch. Most vendors will not split up a reel of them usually 5 to 10 thousand of them. FYI I have tried three different dealers to get the compass code flashed into my truck no dice! But on the up side when I put the premium cluster in my truck the compass worked on that, just the radio one does not work. My console has the homelink and compass module, weird think is the homelink works and registers in the Evic without any flash???

@Cptwing. Do you know/can you post the yazaki PN's for the needed connectors?
(I think I already have the terminal Pn's for the green 16 pin connector behind the driver's air vent).

I'd be more than happy to fab one up if we can ID everything, find a supplier, and TroyClark covers the parts. That way I can draw up a proper harness schematic to post up later.

I need to look over the schematics again and see what all is going up there besides the lamp power and compass module connector. If I recall, my truck had 1 or 2 other small connectors as well for other lights?

PS:
Here is RLK's compass module thread with some good pictures.
Compass module install

Edit:
WIRING-3 WAY - MOPAR (68064999AA) $27 at Tasca

I can't tell from the Tasca picture if the 3 pin connector housing is included or not (probably). Edit: yep
Quirk had a better picture.
