Yeah, I don't know. Good question...
I know that the sport bumper cover on the 3rd gens fit over the chrome with minimal trimming.

You might be able to hack your chrome to make it fit, but it's more involved than just slip over.

No, that's going to be a full replacement. Only problem is if you already have a non-sport bumper you need new support brackets and those can get pretty expensive.
If that was local I'd be tempted to pick it up just to have as a spare in case anything were to ever happen to mine off roading.
