So I'm driving to work today, going down a pretty narrow two lane road, when some douche in a lifted Silverado :flipthebird:

coming from the other direction decides to swerve into the middle of the road right as we're about to pass each other. Me not wanting to die a fiery death :Grenade:

swerve to avoid him and my sideview mirror catches a friggin mailbox!! It scared the **** out of me, it was really loud, and the actual mirror shattered but the outside part is fine.

So I go to the dealership today and order a new mirror, for $215. They said it would be another $195 to install it. **** that, I'll put it in myself. :superhack:

To top it all off I left my truck there so they can scotchguard the interior or whatever it's called and the rental they gave me is a ******* Chevy HHR!! :homoswitch:

This thing is possibly the gayest vehicle ever made. At least they're gonna wash my truck for me and I get it back tomorrow.

oh that sucks about the mirror. There its a trim piece that goes around the door handle in the interior door panel. Make sure to pop that out or you wl be standing there cursing trying to get the panel back on right..lol

well at least there was no other damage...a buddy of mine had tow mirrors on his tahoe and while driving on a narrow street he took out a parked 2nd gen Ram's tow mirrors with the owner standing on his porch with a beer...Tahoe's mirror was trashed but intact...The Ram's was completely ripped off...all in all it was about $800 in repairs for both...all paid by my buddy cuz the owner saw he was talking on his cell phone lol!!

they wanted to charge you 2 hours of labor to put the mirror on?! thats insane. i dont think we even charge a full hour to do it. probably like 5/10ths.

I guess I am lucky I didn't hit the truck but it was a pretty sucky way to start my day.

^^ I think he was giving you a tip on putting your door panel back on. You've got to pull it to get to the bolts holding the mirror on

Oh, thanks man. Will I have to remove the door panel to just replace the mirror? The housing is fine it's just the actual mirror that I'm replacing.

The scary thing is the mailbox is fine. I think it's made of petrified oak or something.

I broke a mirror one time (glass only) and got it replaced for $10. (Labor included, from a local glass shop) It was the passenger side too

I just pulled it out, no unbolting or unscrewing anything. I'm sure that there was a proper way to do it but since the mirror was broken anyway I just pulled it out. The other one popped right back in. I left the old one on the kitchen table and my wife threw of out, sorry dude. She didn't know I was saving a broken mirror.
