So I drove by a Ram dealership today and something caught my eye. 2014 Ram 2500 Megacab with every option, or damn near. Laramie Limited I think. Wow, what a truck. Sticker said $70k, but internet price said $56. My wife wants me to get it, I want it, but it makes zero sense.
My 2011 1500 has 32k miles, it's paid for and I like it. Plus, I don't have a NEED for a 2500.

Sure was a good looking truck though.....

I cant do another new vehicle! I like cars and trucks, sure...but man its $.

I feel bad enough for thinking I need another ol 93 5.0 to do up!! And that's like $10K, let alone 50+!

you and me both, took such a big loss when I traded in my pos titan that im almost paying for 2 rams, back on track, those limited rams are pretty sweet for sure

the older I get, the more I am able to visualize money as objects and other things I want.

There ain't a vehicle in the world that I would pay $56k for. No way no how. That amount of money, I could do everything I want to do to the house I'm living in and then some, buy damn near every firearm on my wishlist and enough ammo to enjoy them, plus multiple other toys along the way.

Thing is, I like nice things. My wife and I both work hard, and we're not broke.

Ill offer an alternative. Procharger kit for 5k, 1k towards trans upgrades, another 2k toward tuning and install, and let's just say another 15k toward whatever else you want to do for the truck. You'd be at 23k invested vs 56k and have exactly what you want in a badass truck.

Regardless of what any of us think, fact is its a poor financial move, period, but it's your money so do with it what you want.

You are smart and I am in the same dilemma. I have a 2011 as well with 18,000 miles paid for and he wants a Mega cab dually CDT 3500.

I said no....

I just went through a similar experience in in FW. Went by for a part check and almost bought a new ram. I have a 13 with 18000 miles one and the new truck would of been the same payment after trade in. Although I would have another year on the note... To each their own, but I said no to try to get rid of my payment.

That being said... lets us know what you end up doing (I don't think this forum has been good for most peoples wallets so far)

Well, I said screw it. Proud new owner of a 2500 CTD Mega Cab.

Financially wise? Nope. Here's the kicker; wife is happy, kids are happy, I get a shiny new beast of a truck.
