I might round to the nearest dollar but that's it.

That's what I do. Usually, mine reads on the full line, and sometimes it is hard to even get to a full dollar amount after shutoff on mine without over-filling.

Yes, I do have the 32 gal tank.....ya know the one with that annoying 3/4 tank thump when ya stop.......and I think the most I've ever put in her is 27-27.5 gals.

Now on my jeep, I can put probably 3-4 gals more in after shutoff...but it's a 96...same for the 88.

I stop when it clicks. There is another gas station just down the road. I get four days driving to work and home and an extra gallon won't change that.
Now an extra 30 gallons would.
Besides, at 10mpg who cares. I still fill at the same couple places. Topping off helps nothing.

I can do same as op..I put the gas to her and when it stops automatically i can get more in..Let it gurgle down and add more slowly..Fill it up till she cant take not a single drop more..I have even on the odd trip shaken the truck a lil just to get the bubbles out so i get that extra few drops in..

Were still talking about trucks right? :naughty:

Thus is where the needle stops when it tells me it's full.

Is it me, or does the needle loom to be left of center of the gauge?

Looks like it is centered... I haven't paid attention to see up mine goes all the way to F mark.

As others showed, its centered. Its a trick your eyes play on you because of that shadow it casts, makes it appear off center.

I think the most I've ever put in is 26-27 gallons, but I try really hard not to do that. I always fill up at a quarter tank in the late spring through early fall, and at half a tank from late fall through early spring. Never know when you're going to get a call from a relative a few hours away to come pull them out of a snow bank or ditch.

4 pages of nothing helpful.... Lol

Yes, the needle should pass the full mark.
Not sure what the issue is, but unless they can fix it with an update, I doubt it will be worth the time or money to fix.
I'd talk to a dealer and see what they have to say.

And not being able to put more gas in after the pump clicks off is only related to the design of the filler neck on each vehicles tank, and the size/design of the associated air vent.

Some vehicles will take quite a bit more. Trucks generally don't, since the filler neck is usually quite short.

P.s. If you drive a lot of gravel roads, you may have issues with gas pumps clicking off due to a blocked air vent. It's a common issue on rural trucks.

Thinking more about this, if your truck says 30 miles to empty and you can fit 28.5 gallons in, that tells me you have a full tank.

3 1/2 gallons left in the tank would be fairly minimal at that point I'd say.

So if you put larger tires on the right side of the vehicle and smaller on the left, maybe the gauge would read full. :roflsquared:

NO NO NO....put your wallet in your right rear pocket, that way, you'll sit higher on that side, and it will appear fuller from the added parallax...............much cheaper than bigger tires......

Seriously tho, yes, that would bother me too....till I got use to it.

Just filled up today. Didn't attempt any more after pump stopped itself...never do.

And my wallet was in my right pocket.

Mine goes a little bit past the "full" knotch as well when it shuts off automatically. Ill usually put a little more in and round to the nearest "5" or "0" in cents to accommodate my ocd.

Yeah, you should probably trade your truck in for scrap. It's totally worthless now.
Are you this much of a pain in the a$$ in every thread you participate in?

Glad I'm not the only one that does this.

OP sounds like maybe you have a bad sending unit. Happened to me on an Expedition I drove a while back. Don't know if it's the same, but the Ford techs then advised not to leave the key in the ignition when pumping. Something about some little bit of electricity hitting the fuel pump/sending unit and f'ing it up while pumping. IDK what the real issue was as it sounded like a load of crap to me but I stopped leaving the key in the ignition and I never had another problem.

On my '95 Ram, the gauge was wildly inaccurate. I'd get about 150 miles on the first half tank and about 50 on the last half. I just started filling up at half tank lol.
