I have been looking at trucks for about 2 or 3 months. I have decided that I want a Ram. Now my question is 5.7 vs 3.6. I drive about 60 miles one way to work 15 days a month. Mostly country two lane roads with some small towns mixed in. I do not tow very much over 5K lbs. So do I go for the Hemi :naughty: which is where my heart is or go with my brain and get the 3.6? I don't want the diesel, went that route with a Liberty with the VM 2.8. Don't trust em.
I want to find a 2016 if I can.

I went hemi power. It'll have a better resale when the time comes over the v6.

Are you going like reg 2wd or crew cab 4wd? I would say the smaller truck like a reg 2wd the 3.6l would be solid. The 3.6 is a strong N/A v6. If your going with a bigger heavier truck like a fully loaded crew cab 4x4 I would go towards the 5.7l.

I guess I should have been a little clearer. I am going with Crew Cab, 4x4. I have a 6'4" son and a daughter that is a little shorter than that. But my son is going off to Collage next summer but I still want the cc. I have decided on a Big Horn Edition. Although for the right price I will get a Rebel.
I have found a Big Horn Edition with 3100 miles on it as a dealer demo. What kind of discount should I expect with that? 47K sticker price.

The answer is always Hemi. If you can afford it anyway. There isn't that much of a difference in mpg is there? Try to find one with a 32 gallon tank. That extra day between fill-ups is nice when you drive that much.

The 3.6 in my 300C AWD is quite amazing. It is nothing like the older 3.5's. Like 14hemi says, maybe hemi in a big truck would work better. I need the added mileage and the difference is very noticeable.

Drive both and go from there. I have a 4x4 CC with the 3.6 and it's great. I drive about 40 miles each way to work and enjoy the extra mileage the V6 provides. I had a 12 with the Hemi, I didn't use all that HP in it.

I have been in this exact situation before: I got the V6, and ended up regretting it.

5.7 all the way.

The differential isn't enough to eclipse the regret!

Go with the hemi. V6 would probably only save 200-300/year in gas. If search online long enough, you can find a bighorn crew 4wd for under 33k

Hemi 5.7 8 Speed
I went to the dealer intent on getting the v6. Trying to be "practical". Took one for a test drive, felt "fine". Then the sneaky SOB stuck me in a hemi 8 speed to take for a quick ride and there was no turning back. I let my wife drive both too and she was like, "Yea get the 2nd one" haha.

At this late date you should expect at least 25% off msrp. My $.02

60 miles each way?! Dang. Makes me feel better about my commute and fuel consumption lol I drive 30 miles each way Monday-Friday. I have a 5.7 Hemi w/ the 32 gallon tank. Usually fill up every 2 weeks. If your heart says get the Hemi you should definitely do that. It is a truck after all... the goal here isn't mpg's lol
