Does the Stability Control stay on when you put the Ram in 4wd? The reason I ask is my friend has a 2007 Tundra, and the stability control turns off as soon as he puts it in 4wd. He doesn't like that feature and is looking at a Ram. He says in the winter he turns the 4wd on to get moving, then turns it off so he has stability control.

stability control stays on in 4wd (it can be turned off after its in 4wd) but I dont know how much it helps. before esc existed you would just make a straight line into the ditch, now with esc, you make squiggly lines into the ditch. The end result is if you're going in the ditch, in 4wd, esc is not keeping you out of it. Now in 2wd that's a slightly different story.

of course I am referring to driving in the snow/ice. In the mud, esc will drive you crazy because it will prevent you from rocking your way out or powering your way out. You will end up turning it off in the mud most of the time. I've not ditched a vehicle in 4wd in all my life, drive like you have sense and know what you're doing. I suggest donuts in an icy parking lot for an extended period of time for practice. I know that's how I spent my teenage winters and I think it has paid off honestly.

it can be fully disabled in 4wd. I think you press and hold it till it dings and says ESC disabled or off on the EVIC. I read it somewhere and tried it once.

Thanks, that's all he wanted to know, for whatever reason Toyota disables it as soon as you put it in 4wd on the Tundra.
