I'm about to order the bilstein 5100's for mine but i need to know whether or not i can install them myself. Do you need to have a spring compressor?

yes you have to have a spring compressor to swap over the springs to the bilstiens

Im sure these will fit the 2012, i dont think they have changed the front suspension too much

Did you put in your spacers on the rear yet? Also, did you add the Bilsteins to the rear too? If not how does it ride without them? I installed the Bilsteins at the same time on the rear and the ride is just awesome.

yeah i just got done installing the spacers in the rear. I went with 1" tpg steel spacers. Im about to post a diy thread with pics and all. Just need to get to a level parkin spot to get a good all done photo. No i didnt change the rear shocks, and so far after about 5 miles the ride feels the same. yes i put bilstiens in the front and spacers in the rear because i set the bilsteins to max and it had the nose up look but i didnt want to take them back out to just tack them down a notch. so i installed the spacers in the rear myself which took all of about 45 mins.

Good write up on the back spacer install. How come you went with the steel one and not the polyurethane? Looks like now your rear is slightly higher now than the front. But if you tow, that is a good thing. I used the 3/4 inch polyuerethane cuz, I did not want any funky noises coming from back there using the steel one. I have mine set to max as well and I measure , both front and rear 40 1/8 inch from ground to wheel well.

i like the "little" bit of rake I have on mine......it doesn't take too much weight to drop that back end. When the snow hits I toss in 300 pounds of sand, down an inch it goes.

I just went with steel cause i figured it wouldnt ever break down. Yeah ill have to get to a level parking lot and measure the wheel wells. but without the rear spacers in i was a good 3/4" higher in the front.

the shocks cost me around 200 and the shop i had install them charged me around 180. than the alignment was around 140, thats a lifetime alignment deal at firestone.

Lifetime alignment, that's really cool, I never knew companies offered that.

I found a vid on youtube for an 09 ram 1/2 ton for front shocks and rear spacer. Would post a link ut havent got new computer figured out yet. Thought it was interesting he just used spring compressors to pull the rear springs and install the spacer rather than taking anything else apart. FYI I used auto zone compressors to do my front shocks and had no problem.
