Hey guys & gals.

Every since I added the bigger tires and 2" level the ride quality really went to ****... Which was expected. But now i'm looking into adding some stuff to help out with the quality of the ride and I need some input on what you all think would be the best route to take.

I'm going to be ordering 35's to replace my 33's but was thinking, Long Arms better shocks??

I'm running the 5100's on all four corners but if I need to replace them I have no problems changing them out.

Thanks for the help everyone!

im sure Matt will poke his head in and give yeah some good info. But yeah a long arm kit I would say would give you a better ride, shocks maybe. Also tires can effect ride quality. an E rated tire will be stiffer then a D rated(D rated giving you the more comfy ride) also rim size. The bigger the rim the worse the ride.

Bigger the tires/lift. The worse the ride.

I would try to see if you could get better shocks. And are the 5100 adjustable?

It's not the daily driver anymore... it stays in the garage more now days than on the road but it's for the times that I do drive it that I would like a little better ride.

Wtf is wrong with you? Not a daily driver? Gotta break in all the suspension work.

I have 7k on the new shocks and level.. and the roads i travel it's been plenty broke in. That's not the problem, trust me.

and it's not a daily driver anymore beacuse in 7 months I put 18k miles on it and it's been taking a beating with the type of work I do. Don't feel like killing a 46k + truck in a year

When you did your level did you get an extended length shok or just use stock length?

I'm not sure that a control arms will really do anything

I don't think carli makes leveling springs for your truck, but any leveling spring will give you a better ride then a spacer

I upgraded to the Bilstein 5100's when I did the 2" level. Carli makes a 2" level kit with the springs it's about $900 for the 2" level if I go that route.

Hmm I didn't think they made suspension components for hemi's

The carli kit is a 3" level, IMO at 3" you should do control arms and an adjustable track bar

Although most companies say you don't need to replace shocks with a leveling kit, a shock for a 2"-4" will help ride quality ALOT!

If your really looking for ride quality, to just level not lift and are willing to spend the money, Carli or Thuren ate hands down the best way to go

I would do those springs with TGC control arms and an adjustable track bar

My turn to talk about the subject...haha.

I have gone through the whole off the shelf lifts and level kits, and none of them provide the ride quality that you will get from a purpose built kit from Carli or Thuren. I opted to go for a mix of both. Thuren coils, track bar, and control arms up front and Carli full leafs and Bilstein 5160 Resi shocks on all 4 corners. Its fun to ride around with other diesel owners and watch them cringe as I approach a rough railroad crossing going 50mph. In their trucks, it will rattle your teeth out...in mine, you float over them and keep on going.

If you want the most from your suspension when it comes to ride quality and offroad performance, then I would take a good look at the 2 brands I mentioned.

I would stay away from long arms because you will have to cut off your factory control arm mounts to make them fit. You will be suprised at how much wheel travel you can get out of the Carli/Thuren kits with their short control arms.
