Just purchased a 2017 eco diesel with the air suspension. After 400 miles it seems that the truck is no longer sitting level. Any thoughts? Calling the dealership in the morning.

Was it ever really sitting level before, without the typical downward rake towards the front? I don’t have one yet, hopefully by the end of the year I will but, I’m pretty sure the truck I test-drove that had the air suspension on it, didn’t sit level, either. If memory serves me correctly, if the suspension was set to normal ride-height, you wouldn’t know it was sitting on air because it had that typical pickup truck rake.

I see that I should have been a little more specific. The right side of the truck is sitting 3/4" of an inch taller than the left. Very noticeable when standing behind it. I realize the front to back is not the same.

Oh dang. And that’s on flat, level ground?

Can't get much more level than the garage. The truck is my son's and this will drive him nuts. I haven't had time to read the manual yet, just putting this out there till I can get the manual. I'm sure that he is studying it as I sit here.

Any thoughts from others out there?

There is a calibration procedure the dealer can do, and is likely part of the process when they receive a new truck, that may have not been done.

If that’s the case, wouldn’t it have never sat level? I’m being led to believe that if it sat level before at one time and now it’s not, there might be a problem.

No vehicles sit exactly level. Gotta remember, they put the same exact springs on each side with the same exact spring rate. Now rotate one spring 180° and it will sit completely different. Then you also have to remember that a fuel tank only sits on one side of the vehicle. There's nothing on the other side to "balance it off". Plus anything else you could have in your truck that's "off balance". Even so much as tire pressure. Make sure each one is exactly the same, which is impossible. You can have 40lbs of pressure in 2 tires, but one my be 40.1lbs and one 40.9lbs but it'll still only show 40.

So, as stated, really nothing to worry about from the factory.

Good points but, the truck sat level before with the fuel tank full. I can see tire pressure being the fault to a degree, but a difference of 3/4" from right to left side is too much in my opinion.

I would say the dealership is your best option at this point.

Is it sitting unlevel to one side on both the front and the rear? If so or either way, you could have a blockage of some sort in the valving that runs all that stuff.

I wouldn’t think 3/4ths of an inch is really anything to be concerned with but then again, I’m not there in the driveway looking at it, either...lol.

I'd love to know the outcome of this issue. My truck has the same suspension but knock on wood, no issues yet.

This is likely because you got out of the truck. The truck does not constantly adjust but intermittently when certain thresholds are met. For example you and your wife run to the store, on first start up it might level up all 4 corners (understanding it will be nose down because of predetermined rake) you do your running around, she jumps out with her purse and a few bags and you need to run out some more. The truck might not sense that small of a change and do nothing. So now that side which leveled earlier with say 100lb passenger and 40lb purse <--- yeah I said it, it now that much lighter. So that spring is still aired up with that minute pressure difference so it will be a tad higher. If you had a 300 pound passenger in the seat and they jumped out, that would be a drastic shift in weight and the truck will respond.

3/4 of an inch isnt a lot as it will change constantly. Look up chevy lean, thats almost a 2-3 inch difference from side to side.

All points taken into account. There is only 1 person in the truck. It ma not sound like much but it is very noticeable. This was not the case when we purchased the truck for a 2 week period.

Now being told that since we purchased from not a local dealer, that we need to take it back to where it came from. Said that it was an issue at delivery and the dealership won't work with us. I asked this shop and the one we purchased from and both said that any dealership will take care of any issues, doesn't seem to be the case now. I ask...how can this happen? New vehicle and nowhere to get it serviced under warranty except 7 hour away.

Before purchasing, we had checked locally and was told that since it is close to the end of the year, they couldn't get this truck shipped to them in order to sell to us. So we had it delivered. Just gets under my skin to purchase something and find out these things.

They can do warranty work at any dealer, they are just mad you didnt buy from them. Bring it in, talk to the service manager. Dont bother with the desk guys, go to the top, or call RAM cares, they will get it done. This usually ends up getting a stale taco under the seat but your truck will sit level.

Hi biggdadd58,

We would like to look into this further for you, as we understand how this could be frustrating. Please send us a private message with your VIN, selling dealer and dealer you are looking to have your truck serviced at.

Curious to see how this works out. Mine sits .5" lower on the front left than right, but the back right and left sits pretty much identical with the truck sitting empty in my garage. My truck only has 1100 km on it and I tried cycling through ride heights with me out of the truck in case it was me lowering the 1 corner as well as sitting in the passenger seat to try and make the other side squat a bit and sit level.

I have a vague memory that you can calibrate the system by pressing the upp and down buttons at the same time for 5 sec.

You have to google it
