Not gonna lie about this, it goes for all cars and trucks - the reverse lights suck by themselves. I've been researching and trying to find the best (or at least great quality) backup reverse lights with excellent output under the rear bumper of our truck. I can't seem to find any answers that works the best, even searched on here.

Anybody have any ideas or suggestions on this? Or anybody have a setup on their truck?

as you can see I only installed 2 (although I have 4 of them) because it started raining during the install. I'll install the other 2 soon. These throw out a LOT of light..and I have them wired to their own switch in the cabin so that I can turn them on/off at will. Makes working on the trailer etc much easier.

these lights...although only $40.00 a pair are well made...very bright...and have a waterproof aluminum housing. Don't let the cheap price fool you...I am VERY happy with these!

easy enough to install. Just make sure you measurements are dead on. Mine were not even after measuring 3 times. I used a jig saw (after drilling 1/2" holes in 2 corners) and a metal blade to cut out the main hole. I then used a 1/4" metal drill bit for the mounting bolts. Make sure you use BOLTS..not screws! Also...you might want to get some black silicone to seal them off. I didn't...but I will when I put the next pair in. I will loosen the ones already in and butter the back of the lights to seal them to the bumper.

I mounted a set of 2x3 LED pods under the bumper. I just tapped into the wires feeding the reverse lights for now. Plan to add a switch in the cab at some point.

I have a set of 3" LED pods mounted up under my truck for backup/load lights as well. But some custom brackets for them to drop down off the rear bumper brackets.

Top picture is LED bulbs in the regular reverse lights. Bottom is with the LED's on.

My full writeup on the install along with more pictures can be found on post #54 in my build thread linked in my signature.

I bought 2 of KC hi lite led flood lights and used a 3.5" muffler clamp spray painted black and attached them to the round tow hitch bar. Fits perfect and cheap. I then wired the lights to a switch in dash so I can turn on and off at will. Nice having a lot of light back there. Pic below

I personally don't like the lights just hanging off the bottom of the bumper. To me it looks poor and could easily get torn off. Flush mount in my opinion is the way to go...but to each their own I guess.

Cutting the bumper is more scary than it is difficult.

Yes, to each their own. Flush mounted into the bumper looks good, just not what I wanted for my truck. If I recall title of this thread OPs question he wanted pics of lights mounted below the bumper.

@Motivology... They don't hang down near as much as it looks in the pic but still throw light a long way back if needed. The nice thing about mounting them under the bumper is that you don't have to worry about blinding everyone around you when you do use them as reverse lights. My truck only sees off road at the beach so ripping them off is not much of a worry. Its hard to tell from the pic but the way they are tucked up, if I bottom out enough to rip these lights off i have bigger worries than $30 worth of LEDs.

If your worried about them hanging low, there are also some very bright thin (about 1") 12" LED bars that fit well between the tailgate and the top of the bumper, hidden back where you cant really see them. Yet they still light up well . I put them on my old 07 and tied them into the reverse wiring so they only came on with the reverse switch. I also had work lights that were mounted below the bumper with a bracket I bought from somewhere that I can remember. those were also tied into the reverse switch but through a relay so I could manually turn them on too.
