But for the time/effort/headache/upkeep of plasti dipping vs the ease of install and uninstall of these covers make the wheel skins an interesting option. My concerns for the skins are: do they hold up well? Scratch easy? Don't look "added-on" or kitschy?...

For everyone insterested I found this . I ordered a set yesterday, and they are already shipped, but since I still on my winter tires/rim I will post some picture of the cover itself when they will be delivered:

4 Black Dodge RAM 1500 Truck 17" Wheel Skins Hub Caps 5 Spoke Alloy Rim Covers G | eBay

Those have a glossy finish, but they are also avaible in flat black.

I also found some pictures of them on a truck on this ad:

17" Black Wheel Skin covers for Dodge Ram | tires, rims | Lloydminster | Kijiji

I had skins but the problem is when you want to take them off after a year, they will break and you will likely scratch the OEM rims taking the skins off. I took my skins off to plasti dip them because they where chrome, what a nightmare. I ended up just plasti dipping my OEMs now, and it is great stuff. Only one skin survived, I plasti dipped it for fun or if I ever put a spare tire carrier on the back. You can see all the choices, love the plasti dipped black.

I can't waste perfectly good tires just because the OEM suck so hard. Eventually I will get new rims, but until it is time to get tires, I will rock the plasti dip. Also, I just put a plastic bag behind it and sprayed the dip. Was pretty dang easy.

I think the fact I used skins I ruined any chance of getting some coin of craigslist, because I scratched them up good getting the skins off. BTW, the skins looked so good the dealer checked I had after market rims when I was thinking of trading it in.
