Have solar panels on the roof and they melted off snow, causing snow to fall about 20 feet or so and onto the hood of my truck. I usually don't park in that particular spot so I really didn't think about it. Anyway, I have a good four dents in the hood, one larger than the rest.

Can anyone recommend anyone who specializes in dent removal in the CT area? My neighbor is an autobody tech and he said it would be like 500-600 dollars due to time, supplies and repainting the hood (???). My dent coverage on the truck doesn't cover the hood, go figure. I'd rather try not to go through insurance as my rates are good right now. Any thoughts?

My other option is to get a quote from the dealership but I'm sure I'd be looking at the same cost if not more.

Kinda hard to tell....is there paint damage or just dents?

If no paint damage, a good pdr guy can do wonders.

Tell the wife your hood is totaled. Buy the sport hood. Win win.

No wife so I should just go buy the sport hood, eh? Lol. Didn't even think of buying one actually. How much do they run?

Depends your year. Allmoparparts sells them for around 750. Tying to find out if the sell for the 2015 1500. A dealer will charge about double that.

I'll check them out. Yeah the dealer will charge a lot. I'm not even going to bother getting a repair quote from them

Yeah pics are difficult to tell but no paint damage, just dents.

Good....I paid like $100 in SoCal a few years back to have a door ding removed on a crease on my black 300. Couldn't even tell there was anything ever there after they were done.

Yeah there was a small dent on the door up by the window when I first bought the truck. The dealer agreed to have their repair guy bang it out and you'd never even know it was there.

Couldn't find any sport hoods on all mopar parts but did find a bunch from a google search..

2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 Hoods

Or if we have any vendors on here that can get their hands on something.. possibly a group buy? :D ;)

This one looks pretty sweet: 2009-2017 SSK Style Functional 1500 Ram Air Hood

Cheaper than this one, which I think is more of the "sport" type: 2009-2017 Dodge Ram 1500 Carbon Creations MP-R Hood

That looks like Derek's hood, but for the 4th gen.

That sucks!

I had a scary minute the other night when I came to quick stop and all the ice on my cab roof sloughed forward down the windshield and onto my hood.

No damage except to a my adrenal gland! Even managed not to soil my boxers.

The one on ebay isn't compatible with my truck for some reason. I was going to pocket my tax returns but I may end up spending it...

I'd have to figure out what I will do with my stock hood too.

The only problem win fiberglass hoods is if they are made ****** you're going to spend more money fixing them with. The body shop would have to fix the imperfections

Yeah. I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet. The SSK hood looks sweet if I can find one that's worth the price. I told my neighbor I'd let him know at some point.

I'm about to try to bang it out with some plywood underneath [emoji23]

I'm going to try and get another quote tomorrow. If they can pull as much of it out as possible without the need to repaint I may just call it a day.
