Just got back from my dealership who tells me the main difference for the earlier ones are hood, fenders and grill. Now I am no way any type of engineer, but aren't the 2500s considered a h/d vehicle with different suspensions ?

Umm...yeah...starting with a solid front suspension, more towing, more payload weight, stiffer overall suspension to handle the extra workload, bigger engines...and I can make a few more, and I'm no expert.

That specific salesperson didn't do his or her homework.

Cosmetically the trucks are similar and that's about where the similarities end. Just about everything drive train and suspension is different, bigger brakes and I might be incorrect because I've never looked at the braking system on either
but I think the 2500 brakes are hydroboost instead of electric, higher payloads and towing capacities, HD trucks are taller off the lot. Yeah, the salesman had no clue what he was talking about.

I figured as much as he was telling me one of their good customers had swapped to a 2500 front end on his 1500 truck.

ford did the same with their 7700 series, and that didn't last either.apples to oranges when it comes to light vs. heavy duty.

i'd like to be a fly on the wall listening to someone try to sell one after the mods.yeah,it looks like a 2500,but it's really a half ton.trust me,it's a good deal...sure you can just get an hd,but this is almost one...and it's only a little cheaper...nobody will notice...

That's like one of my former co-worker's dad, put denali badges and expensive rims on a gmc base trim truck :roflsquared:

I know some one on here put a 2500 " front clip" on a 1/2 ton. Don't remember who it was but it turned out good

sure, bet it looked almost like an hd.what's the point of making a 1500 "look" like an hd?? i just don't get it.it's still inferior no matter how you justify it.
