I've only had my Ram for a little over a month. I have read enough about this leak that it seems like a more "common" (I use that term loosely) issue with the Rams. I'm a numbers guy (CPA), so I figured I'd poll this community to see what % of respondents have had this issue.

After fixing mine by using the latest part number third brake light (thicker seal), I found some water had made it past the original, just never enough to get to my headliner inside the cab.

After reading so much about it, I ran a bead of clear silicone around my 3rd brakelight within a few weeks. My truck is Silver and it doesn't show. If I ever need a bulb I'll do the Home Depot fix, which I actually bought and have standing by....

It didn't leak before, I've only had it 7 weeks.

I didn't notice it til 3 days of rain in a row. I had 2" of water in the storage under the rear seat. It's a 10 minutes fix.

I've had my truck just about a year, and it is just shy of 4 years old. I never noticed anything, nor any indicators that the previous owner had an issue. However, I got in my truck the other day after it had been parked for a few weeks and noticed a pretty large stain on the headliner at the rear corner of the cab. I haven't dug in yet, but I'm assuming it's from the light.

my 2017 has the newer seal with no issues. My 2009,2011,2013 and 2015 never had the issue either

My 2010 did leak bad. Luckily warranty covered it then the dealer had to repair the cab where they pryed the cover off and scratched and dented the cab.

I haven't had an issue with my 2500, but my 2011 1500 Longhorn leaked like a sieve and flooded the back seat everytime it rained. My 2014 1500 Outdoorsman leaked from the third brake light also, but not all the time.

I guess I was lucky that my brake light went out due to the water and was alerted. It seems like the worst damage is done when it goes undetected until the water on the backseat or floor is discovered.

Yeah, kind of amazing this has been a problem spanning so many years with no fix.

I have thought about doing the same. I really want to avoid interior water damage. I live with that at home (basement) and I hate it. Mt truck is black though, so unless I am an artist it won't look great. Will silicon damage the paint over time, discoloring around the brake light?

Does anyone know if\when fca corrected this issue?

My new 17, is 12\2016 production date. Was this corrected by that time? Thanks.

I hate to mess with it if i don't have to on a brand new truck. Honestly, I'd rather have that light stick out past the cab and only have a hole with s rubber gromnet for the wire, than have the light cut into the cab.

Yeah , it looks good this way, but look at all the issues. Ford is just as bad too. Just my .02

I fixed the seal on my Sport and Rebel before there was ever a chance for the leak to happen. I like to mitigate risk where/when possible. :)

I never had a problem with mine, it got power washed many times and nothing ever leaked inside.
