Sad part of this is Ive read and watched videos all about this last year when I picked up my 2014 Ram and told myself Id handle it so its a non issue. Well 2 days of rain and lake ram 1500 started to appear. Im kicking myself for not fixing it last year. I noticed it when I was getting ready to pull out the back seats to start my amp install and the back seat headrest was wet. Slow drip coming from the channel from the power slider. I hope its the brake light and not the channels. Ill find out soon enough.

So far no issues with my '16, have had it ~10 months, am keeping an eye on it though when we have a lot of rain.

Mine never leaked, then wham! Under seat storage bin was half full of water. Honestly I would buy the weather stripping and replace it even if yours is not leaking. It's an $8 fix and 10 minutes of your time. Really no reason not to do it

I just spent the past 6 months dealing with mine. It’s a 2014, bought it as certified preowned. 2nd night I had it and a monsoon hit. Entire rear cab soaked. As I said after 6 months I’ve slowly narrowed it down with dealer. First thing replaced was 3rd tail light then was a little better. But still leaked again, next was entire rear glass because seal was somehow bad. That pretty much stopped it but on occasion would leak driver rear corner but it had to rain extremely hard. Ended up finding a spot weld under top of decorative trim that would only leak at certain rain angles. It’s sealed up and no more problems!

Wow...now I’m a little worried. I need to go check my truck. 2017...had it since October. Really disappointing...I had this issue on my 03, 14+ years and they still haven’t figured it out? With my 03 I had to replace the whole 3rd brake light with a new thicker seal, and I caulked it.

I put the new gaskets on mine in the first 100 miles. So I guess no.

Mine was already leaking, unbeknowst to me, when I decided to the fix, as a preventative measure. Truck was just a few months old too.

see the top part of the light recess?

Can even see a leaf stem trapped in the leaking gasket.
Notice all the dirt on top of the light bulb housing?

more can be found in my build thread.I HIGHLY recommend this fix. Just for Sanity's Sake, if nothing else.

Dealer replaced mine and cleaned the headliner. Next summer I will replace the foam gasket for a rubber one in the hope it last longer.

It’s completely ridiculous. My 2008 has this problem. Wasted an entire day with a hose and went and priced out a new windshield etc..... only to find out last minute it was brake light and I almost spent hundreds on a new windshield. I’m glad to see they solved this issues 10 years later

Solved?

My 2017 had this issue...I had seen all of the DIYs to "fix" it, but figured by MY2017 RAM would have it covered. Guess not!

Dealer fixed it (supposedly...havent had quite that much wind and rain like we did when it leaked) and cleaned the headliner stain.

My 2014 does not leak. However, when I was shopping for a new truck, the other one on the lot I was interested in was leaking badly. It was a regular cab and the cargo bin behind the seat was filled with water.

Mine leaking when I bought it.. I knew of the easy fix and had the dealer cut me a $200 check right then and there to have it fixed elsewhere since I need to back back in OH for work 2 days later I didn’t have time to leave it there and come back and get it. Pulled it off scrapped the gasket off and grabbing some universal rubber seal from O’Reillys and boom fixed it pocketed it.
