I've got a 2016 Ram 1500 Sport Crew with the short box on factory order right now. I'm trying to decide on a running board/nerf bar for the truck.

It's going to have a 4" lift with 35's. I like the Amp Running boards but don't like the $2500+ that they will cost in Canada. My wife doesn't want me throwing money into them either.

I've narrowed it down to the following boards/nerf steps. I want ones that won't hang down much so if anyone has any other ideas, feel free to shoot them out.

I hope to find ones that will tolerate the winters/salt we have in Canada.

Anyone who has any of these bars, let me know how you like them.

1) Iron Cross HD Steps - Cab Length https://www.realtruck.com/iron-cross-hd-step/

2) ICI Magnum RT - Cab Length https://www.realtruck.com/ici-magnum-rt-steps/R184321P2011Y610MA.html

3) N-Fab N-Durastep - Wheel to Wheel https://www.realtruck.com/n-fab-n-durastep-nerf-bars/R183548P2011Y610MA.html

4) Aries AdvantEdge Running Boards - black (these are aluminum)

5) Lund Terrain HX https://www.realtruck.com/lund-terrain-hx-step-nerf-bars/R184522P2011Y610MA.html

6) Iron Cross Patriot (black) https://www.realtruck.com/iron-cross-patriot-boards/R184356P2011Y610MA.html

Thats my truck (white one)... So you know my vote :)

IMO

I really like the Magnum one, but a couple of members who live in some of the wintery states in the US mentioned that they got rust on theirs within one season.

Makes me a bit leery of them living in southern Ontario.

So I narrowed down my choice to the Iron Cross HD Steps.

The ICI Magnum RT's & the Lund Rock Rail Guards with Steps (not pictured) won't fit with the Bushwacker Pocket Fender Flares, but the Iron Cross will.

Now here is the rub.......apparently Ram changed the frame slightly on the 2016's & Iron Cross has not as of yet fabricated the necessary bracket to bolt the step to the Ram.

A couple of Ram owners have been able to install the Iron Cross steps only with some fabrication skills on their part.

Others like me who are clueless will have to wait for the bracket to be fabricated.

Iron Cross says they should be ready by June.

C'mon Iron Cross get with the program!

So I've got my truck....pics posted in another thread.

I've since learned that the ICI Magnum Steps will fit with the Bushwacker Pocket Flares so they are back in contention.

Another one I like is the Iron Cross HD Steps.

There's a new one I just found out about that was introduced at the 2015 Sema Show that won the Sema Design Award. It looks like a real contender for my needs.

So I decided on the Westin HDX Drop Steps for my Ram.

They've haven't even hit the Canadian market yet & they're already backordered.

Looking at the end of August/beginning of September for them to arrive.

All your options look good, but I personally like the style of Iron CRoss HD.

I do too, but a few people have complained about the gap that the Iron Cross HD's leave between the rock rail portion and the rocker panel.

I wanted the nice tight fit, like the ICI Magnums.

^^^Looks really nice. I'd love to run them on my 2500 but don't see a full wheel-to-wheel option from the searching I have done.

I've got Iron Cross Patriot on my 2500 Power Wagon work truck and Ionic Voyager on my 1500 Express. Both are black and I like both equally.

Steps

How are those westins working out? I have the same truck and was all about the magnum rts but heard about the issues with the finish of them. People are coating the with linex and I'm sure it dosent look great. I can't even find anyone that deals the rt steps around Toronto area.

The Westins are def the next best looking.

So far they are great. Winter will be the real test though.

I've sprayed the concealed components/brackets & backside of it with the Corrosion Free rust proofing spray. That should help.

No problem. 4WheelParts installed them.

There is an additional Westin bracket on the driver's side front. I just thought it was additional support for the driver since that the area stressed most often.

Here are the installation instructions so you can check them out for yourself.
