I looking at Nitto Ridge Grapplers in either LT295/65R20 or 35X11.50R20LT. Both are damn near the same size and from I have seen the specs are the same. Would there be any advantage with one size over the other? Prices are close. I have a 2014 Laramie 1500 with the Bilsteins set at the 2.8 mark so from everything I've read these should fit. Any input?

The biggest difference is what the two tires are rated at for load.

The LT295 is rated at 4080 # @ 80 psi

The 35x11.5 is rated at 3525 # @ 80 psi (Your gross axle weight rating is 3900# so if you are going to tow up to capacity, this tire is a bit under spec'd capacity)

Tread depth is a bit different, being 17/32" for the LT, 16.8/32 for the 35.

The LT is a bit taller at 35.12" vs. 34.53" for the 35.

The LT is a bit wider at 11.77" vs. 11.42" for the 35

The LT can be mounted on wheels from 8" to 10.0", the 35 can be mounted on wheels from 8" to 10.5"

So dimensionally there are a few differences but they are minor.

Either tire will fit the truck as equipped and I doubt you'll load your 1/2T with as much weight as the LT is rated at.

So basically it boils down to which one is cheaper to buy.

Good luck.

If you are not loading your Ram near maximum or towing near maximum, I would never put on a "LT" tire on a half ton.
BUT, If you do not care how smooth your truck rides, go with the LT tire.

I totally agree. The LT tire will have a stiffer sidewall.

I can atest to this, I have LT295/55R20 on mine and they are much stiffer than the stock tires. They were near new when I traded for my new ram. So I really wanted to keep them. They aren't extremely rough but you can definitely tell a difference.

don't LT stand for Light Truck.?

sounds like you can just pick which tire you want as every thing about them are fairly close.

I knew that was kinda being a smartbutt.

Its a LT tire design for a light truck, unless your just going to use your truck for a big car I would think you would want to upgrade your tires to something that is more suited to be on a truck rather then the factory style tires.

Thanks for all the input. Think I'm gonna go with the LT295/65R20's for a few bucks more.....
