Sorry to bring this back from over a year ago, I finally had the funds to purchase the bedsides for the truck, and had to find the time to put them on these past couple weekends!
If I had to make any suggestions to any one that would be planning on doing this by themselves or with a friend, be prepared for a ton of cussing and fighting with getting the bedsides off. If I remember correctly, there are well over 100-200 spot welds to drill out.. also, when removing the bed make sure to keep the tailgate close by and ready to take on and off unless you feel like welding a brace across the bed. The issue I came across was by the end after moving the bed around flipping it over and turning it around, the inside rails of the bed closed about 3/4 of an inch and would not allow the tailgate to shut.
When putting the fiber glass bedsides on. Cut out the holes for the taillights while they are off of the truck. But DO NOT cut out the holes for the gas cap!!! This was a mistake i made. And still working on how to mount it more secure. No where on the sides does it show you that the gas neck actually screws to the side. There is just a outline of where to cut. When mounting them to the bed it's self I was going to originally use some Teflon washers with nuts and bolts, but after speaking with fiberwerx they recommended using rivets. (Give me a break I've never done anything like this before lol) so I ended up using 1/4" aluminum rivets. Across the bed rails I took a lot of time trying to figure out what the best measurements would be to spread them apart and still have them being attached to the rail secure enough. From the front of the bed (closest to the cab) I measured out every 8 inches starting 13" in. Then the last rivet ended at 71".
But After a full 3 weekends of working on them I'm proud to say that they are on and I'm completely satisfied with the way they look/fit! Next project will be determining what color(s) I want to wrap the truck.
Again sorry to bring this old Post back but I wanted to give a full update on it!
