So today after my trip to ikea to get $1,200 dollars worth of new furniture......I guess I'm not getting those fox 2.0 coilovers now....my tailgate assist broke. I had no idea what could have caused this but after a few minutes it came to me. A few days ago when I went to close my tailgate I lifted it from the right side instead of the middle. This cause the tailgate to come off the truck on the right side. I though nothing of it but I think at that point it killed the Dee Zee.

DeeZee is supposed to have really good customer service. Try to give them a call and see what they will do for you. Maybe something--maybe nothing--but I always give people the opportunity to say no first.

Looks like the retainer clip is missing, also, why is the ball-nut showing so many threads? That should be flush. Don't see any loctite on the threads either.

I think they normally work pretty damn good. The install process can get a bit tricky and you can easily damage the clip and nut for it. Luckily they put out YouTube videos that really clear up the instructions.

I am going to get this one from Geno's Garage, a little exspensive but, looks better than the Dee-Zee ones.

I had the same thing happen to me on mine. My nutsert broke off so I ended up just using the bolt with a regular nut on the other side.....Just had to make shift a wrench to get in the tailgate in order to tightened it.....Been like it for the last two years without issues.

I had one on my 2015 with no issues, and just installed a new one on my 2017. The nutsert can be tricky but you just have to take your time installing and be sure to use the supplied lock tight.

I haven't really looked into getting one but is it possible to install one on each side?

Wouldn't that help even out the dropping weight?

I've had mine on for easily over a year with no concerns.

To me for what the DeeZee costs, just buy another install and enjoy. :)

I'm going to get another kit. Any ideas on how to get the broken blind nut out?

In what way is it broken? Is it still possible to thread the original cap screw you used to do the installation back into the nutsert? If so, one fellow posted that after threading the capscrew back into the nutsert, he used a hammer, tapping on the head of the capscrew to collapse the legs of the nutsert, which then allowed him to pull the nutsert back out of the hole in the tailgate. Other than this, I think you would have to carefully grind the lip of of the nutsert and push it into the tailgate. You could then recover it through the access port on the tailgate.
