Started BigDogg's wheel and tire fund this week and plan on having enough to pick up a new set of shoes by the time it warms up again in NY...I think I'm going to downsize to 17's but keep the 33" rubber...looking at a 285/70/17. My question is; I really like the Blackrock Yuma's and want to make sure all is alright with the back spacing and what not. I'm not 100% on the difference between the offset and backspacing relationship but from what I've come to understand 4.5 BS with a 0 offset should work as long as I don't get too crazy.

I'm stock suspension, no level, nothing and I don't think I want to go to a larger tire either (I'm doing highway miles, there's really no place to go mudding in Suffolk County to my knowledge lol).

So, will I be safe with a 4.5 BS, 0 offset with a 285/70/17? Thanks in advance boys and girls, I appreciate the advice!

You'll be fine for sure. I have 33x12.5 on 17x9 -13 which stick out a little more than your proposed setup and have zero rub.
To the above its hard to tell from the highlighted info but I'm guessing they are 9 inches wide if they have 4.5bs with 0 offset. 4.5 is half of nine and 0 offset means it's in the center.

Yeah, the attachment isn't as legible as I'd hoped. But according to black rock the wheel is 17x8...not 9. Basically I like the utilitarian look of the wheels but don't want to get steel because of the weight concerns.

Just throwing this out there.. A 9" wide wheel with 0mm offset is 5" backspacing. 8" wide would be 4.5"

Edit: I would avoid 8" wide rims if possible... A lot of the really nice tires, especially in the 12.50 wide range will not fit an 8" wide rim.

If these were 9" I'd have it settled; but according to all sources the Yuma is a 8" wide wheel. Granted I'm not looking to do a 12.50 tired (again, mostly highway miles on my truck)...but long term should my plans change I wouldn't want to have to change out the wheels to something I potentially wouldn't like.

17x8 and 285/70/17 are the stock sizes for the rebel and power wagon. nothing wrong with the combination, its merely preference. the 8" wide wheel almost has a balloon look to it. its not as noticeable on the 17's though. i wish my power wagon came with 9" wide wheels, but it doesnt look bad as it is. the face of the rim is going to stick out a hair more then the OEM chrome clads and youll have a little more tire poke.

Why in the ffffk is ram putting 8" wide wheels on their trucks? Especially trucks "designed" for off road.

IMO

The Rebel is actually where I got the specs from but I didn't know what the back spacing was.
