Hey all
I have a 13 Ram big horn with about 38k on it...when I step on it no matter how fast I'm going it's always seems as if it Boggs down at first and then the Rpms go sky high and sounds like crap. Does anyone else have issues with this or have any trouble with with the throttle response or shift points? I've been told to get a tuner and that will help with this issue...any thoughts or input is appreciated. Thanks

My 13 1500 and 17 2500 are the same. Never had an 8 speed but the 6 speed transmissions seem to want to stay in a high gear longer than necessary. It's the only ridiculous annoying thing I HATE about both of my rams. Maybe a pedal commander would help? Faster throttle response = faster down shift?

I too had that issue on my 2013 Bighorn. I went with a Diablo tuner, With a hemi fever tune. and every thing is perfect. The truck feels like a whole new truck with the tuner.

Assuming you don't have the 100k interval spark plugs & have good fuel, I'd say it's normal. Is the truck new to you or are you original owner? The slight rpm dip is pretty much a huge change in intake vacuum without the fuel going in. Once the pcm calculates everything is good to go, then it'll go.

OP, it would be a HUGE help to know if this behavior is something new or just something you've been living with and are looking into, or if you just bought the truck??

OP has a 2013 so I don't believe he does have the 100K plugs which means his are due for replacement (every 30K).

The 100K plugs are in the 2014's and up.

I couldn't remember when they made the change. I would definitely start with checking plug gap.

Drive around in tow haul button pressed, see if that solves what you are saying. If that fixes it, it isn't a mechanical thing. If it doesn't solve it, then likely you have a performance issue. If you like the feeling with TH, then look into pedal commander or tuner maybe which will be much better.

I had this issue with my 11. Dealer did a relearn flash, took care of this for me.

Correct me if im wrong, about half way though production on 2013 models they started using 100k plugs and inserted something in the owners manual. Mine has 30k plugs but my buddies at work have 100k, both 13 models.
