aFe 48-42001-1 Twisted Steel Headers - Opinions/Reviews?

Has anyone put on aFe shorties on a 5.7?
I'm looking into these ...

aFe Power 48-42001-1 Twisted Steel Headers

... and am wondering ...

How's fit & finish on these, do they really fit without any modifications?
Any problems installing?

I'm looking for a set of bolt on short headers for my 2013 5.7 to work with the stock dual exhaust (including cats).

I'd prefer a simple bolt-on solution that works without any further modifications like denting the header, bending the oil dipstick or modifying the existing exhaust to fit the headers.

Any feedback is welcome, thanks for your input!

David

First question, why shorty headers? Little to no gain in HP and TQ

Man those are over priced. Get a set of BBK's for half the price and they fit perfect.

But bbks have a problem with the tubes cracking after a while. Yes you may run into that with other brands but I've mainly heard it about bbks

just by looking at the picture i would never buy these. Here's why, look at the header tubes where the meet the flange on the inside of the flange...They are not welded to the flange on both sides. This will lead to rusting and eventually cracking and causing exhaust leaks. Any quality brand header should be welded all the way around inside and out. Unless the application calls for a crush style gasket but it doesn't on these trucks. I've even seen cheapo ebay headers fully welded.

I research headers for almost a year before I bought BBK and never once saw any complaints about cracking anything.

Get them ceramic coated inside and out which ever you buy... this will help with heat

This is stainless steel headers, so rust would be minimum right!!?

I am looking at this too just becouse of just that, stailess steel. To much salt on the roads here for anything else :(

And why the change at all? Becouse when the bolts snap I will change to headers and better bolts to eliminate OEM bolt problem

These are 409. 409 has a higher carbon content then 304 so yes the 409 will rust even faster. But dont ne fooled. 304 is also ****** cheap stainless. 30 is pretty cheap stainless it rusts. 316 stainless is good ****.

I would get 304 stainless and still have it coated especially if they use salt on the roads in the winter where you live

I dont think they make headers out of 316. Unless one was to get them custom made.

A coated 409ss won't be a problem or you can move to the desert and don't worry about coatings
Ill stick with the 304 stainless and have them coated. There is a reason why big name companys that have been building headers and exhausts for many years use 304.
