I have a '13 1500 with 5.7. The truck will every once and again jump up in rpm under slight acceleration. Seems to happen right before it shifts and I've only seen it when going slow (2nd to 3rd gear). If I'm just barely on the gas, with constant pressure, the truck will sometimes all of a sudden act like I pushed the gas pedal harder (but I have not moved my foot at all or pressed any harder or softer), and rpm will jump up by around 500 or so. Has anybody else noticed something like this happening? Seems like TPS or maybe something with the computer? It's not like it's jumping in neutral or slipping, it still puts that to the wheels.

Do you have an aftermarket TB, or is it stock?

To my understanding the TPS sensor is built into the Throttle Body, they aren't separate.

I would most likely check to see if your TB isn't dirty before going and replacing parts.

I'm new here, just bought a 2013 5.7 express, and mine has done it once or twice now too. Hopefully nothing that's a problem. I hope I don't regret buying a chrysler

It's a stock TB, and honestly this isn't something that really bothers me, doesn't happen all that much and doesn't seem detrimental to the truck so I'm not really tryin to start tearin into it and replacing things. Was mainly just seein if this was a common issue and if anyone had first hand experience on what the exact cause is. I believe I have some warranty left so I may try to go that route if I do anything. That's interesting that others are seeing this.

Hi 84lamb250,

If you decide to visit your local dealership I'd be happy to follow up with them for you if needed. Just PM our page with your VIN and let me know!

I had a problem like that, it ended up being the extra power from MDS turning off. I didn't notice it while I was stock but it was very noticeable after I had a custom tune installed. RPM would jump about 300-400 and it almost felt like a nudge from behind. Disabling MDS immediately took care of it.
Good luck.

I haven't put enough miles on the truck to change the oil, dealer changed it right when I purchased it and I'm not sure what they put in

Thanks for bringing that up, it kinda seemed like that to me too, hopefully there's a way to get that to stop without disabling MDS

Mine does it when everything is cold. After a few minutes of driving it stops.

My 2010 is a rock star. Great truck. Not sure about 2013s but don't sweat it.
